why is this place so basic and normal now?
boring chart music, gossip columns and the occasional accessible indie pop-rock album for casuals.
basic bitch board filled with normies.
is music just 2deep4/mu/ now?

It used to be a music board with shitposts included. Now it’s a shitpost board with a music theme.

It all went down hill the moment I came here.

Rap, wpop, kpop and politics caused a slow exodus of patricians. I miss when this board was somewhat good.

Now that /mu/ has moved on from Radiohead, can we all agree that Thom Yorke is a talentless, wob-eyed hack?

seems like oversaturation of easily accessible bad music starting around 2012 or so with soundcloud rappers and the worst offshoots of witch house and early vaporwave (and bandcamp lo-fi bedroom pop to an extent) shifted the overton window to where people who were into no wave or backpack rap or death metal and might occasionally talk about Santigold or Hot Chip or whatever were drowned out by this "all music is equal" bullshit and /pol/ garbage driving normal intelligent discussion while the internet in general became one big social network with little community difference between facebook, reddit, 4chan etc- so between nazi shit and r/4chan there isn't really a lot of space for the sorta people who make an interesting board community. Also the memes are all mean and unfunny and everything is us-vs-them instead of just making fun of lowbrow normies across the board. There also aren't really a lot of huge indie acts like 13 years ago- MGMT and Animal Collective album releases were discussed for weeks whereas now it's social shit threads about Beyonce and Taylor swift every three days until the next a.d.d. newsoid gains traction.

Music is dead dude, just like most modern forms of entertainment. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, we could talk about music all day long. Now hardly anyone does. Just mindless by the numbers shit.

AI won't make it better. Its over.

there's no reason for anyone with good taste to come here anymore so they don't. as people migrated off 4chan generally /mu/ stopped being a good/active avenue for real musical discussion and now the only people left are neets who have nothing else to do, /pol/tard culture warriors, fandom cultists, and curious normies. the rise of kpop and the post-2016 /pol/ overflow were big factors too
>>
/mu/ was originally a millennial board. now it's a zoomer board and zoomers are retarded.

I don’t even wanna think about what the 2030s will be like
