Why does everyone suddenly hate this album?
>>122569304>suddenlythis album was always boring "rawk" metal slop for normalfags
I don't.In fact, it was the last GOAT Metallica album until Death Magnetic. After The Black Album, they basically sucked for nearly 20 years.
>>122569304Nothing Else Matters is the biggest vibekiller ever recorded
>>122569523>metal for normalfagssad but true
>>122569744Metalheads are so fucking retarded. A slow ballad is exactly what every metal album needs and it's one of the reasons this is one of their best albums.
>>122570632every metal album? like even grindcore or ya know anything meant to be fucking fast
>>122569304Because the gatekeepy metalheads tend to hate popular bands and albums just because they're popular, or in Metallica's case because they made their sound more mainstream for the time. Pretty good album and don't listen to the gatekeepers.
>>122569304people have hated on this shit for different reasons since it came out. it's fine for radio rock. the lyrics are a great fit for the music.
>>122569304Not a recent phenomenon
>>122570649Gottem
>>122570632Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets also have slower ballad songs. Fade to Black and Sanitarium.
>>122570649>>122572778Grindcore sucks ass and it's juvenile to think a bunch of fast songs give the impression of a fast album.
>>122572937You just haven't listened to Nails.
>>122569304It kinda killed what was cool about metal in the 80s, which was that it was excessive: fast, with overly elaborate solos which is cool when it's well done, trying out more experimental directions like making atmospheric instrumentals, with over the top insanely proficient drum sections etc.It dumbified metal down to simpler riffs, one snare hit per beat, shorter songs and more ballads.
>>122572937>it's juvenile to think a bunch of fast songs give the impression of a fast albumThis might be the dumbest thing i've heard in a long time, do a bunch of slow songs give the imprssion of a fast album? I mean a bunch is allot, not like 1 or 2, but many more
