Personal faves are disintegration and pornography, but I know those are kinda basic so any recommendations?
Siouxsie and the banshees - Join Hands 1979Bauhaus may have released the first gothic single but I personally consider this to be the earliest true “gothic record”. Unknown pleasures may have come before but I wouldn’t really call that goth, up to whoever listens I guess. Anyway this album has the atmosphere you’d imagine a gothic record should sound like which is crazy considering no one has really thought what that WOULD sound like. Bauhaus being the exception of course. Anyway, underrated siouxsie record, maybe if it was released with the intended original artwork >see imageThen it might have made a bigger impact to goths and their infatuation with Catholicism
>>122571533cool, I'll check it out, thanks
It doesn't get more stereotypical or better.
>>122571467listen to Faith and Seventeen Seconds. They're some of The Cure's best.
Aside from the classics (some of which have already been posted) this is easily the best gothic rock record I've listened to. Criminally overlookedhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLqOueIw-7ghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpU5xlMEicY

>>122571467More post-punk in nature but Ian’s vocals are too amazing here to skip, its also from 1981 which gives it bonus points simply for being slightly ahead of the curve
doesn’t get any better than october rust and white light from the mouth of infinity
>>122571988completely agree with white light
>>122571467Listen to The Comsat Angels.
>>122571467In the Flat Field. Is it an obvious choice? Sure. Is it also a total masterpiece? Undoubtedly.
