At the time, Dave. His kind of drunk didn’t mesh well with the other band member’s kind of drunk, plus he was on other shit. Young and dumb. It’s unfortunate that the final straw wasn’t even Dave’s fault though.
But if it wasn’t for the split we wouldn’t have Metallica’s classic run exactly as we’d have it nor would we have Megadeth at all, so I don’t really give a fuck who’s fault it was. A band with the egos and personalities of Dave and Lars wouldn’t have been able to survive long anyway.
