So, in 1999, you had Godsmack. And now in 2024, you have Godsmack. The PD/MDs at the Active Rock radio stations don't want anything new. They say "we know our listeners" and they pretty much do. The internet came in around 1999 or so, the smartest of the Active Rock listeners mostly stopped getting their music from Active Rock, and got it from the internet. But over the last 25 years, Active Rock has held their own. It remains rock at least, the riffs of 2024 are at least as good as 2014 or 2004. But it hasn't changed much. The "lets remove guitars" movement didn't work on active rock radio. The US is a shithole, trash and never getting better. In that context, active rock radio has done ok.
