A5 format should be universal for physical releases now. No more cases, no more gay digipaks, no more excuses
>>122575955I don't know what that is. Explain
>>122576004It's in the photo Moron. It takes up negligible space
>>122575955A5 and digipaks both suck. Jewel cases are the best because they're user replaceable and standardized
>>122576236>standardized
>>122576040If you're so concerned about space then just go digital
>>122576366It's not like i listen to the actual CD, but it has to be ripped by someone
>>122576333Quit playing dumb, nigga. You know what a jewel case is. And you would know how to replace it if you found a scratched up copy of an album you want at a thrift store
>>122576424There's no need to have a hard plastic shell in the first place though. The flexible sleeve is sufficient
>>122576236Standard jewel cases are unnecessarily thick. The thin ones are good.
The great thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from
>>122575955this is an excellent point. I prefer cardboard thin cases because they save so much room and I don't have to sleeve them and the artwork stays attached. But this will never be the standard because there are billions of older releases just ready to be sold and acquired with old shitastic jewel cases
Cardboard cases are shit. Hard to replace and they don’t fully enclose the CD. Jewel cases have their issues but they’re far superior to any cardboard case.
>>122575955The industry should have switched to shorter sized Amaray cases years ago.
Look you autists there does not need to be a “case”Unless you treat your belongings like a toddler. Two pieces of cardboard with the disc housed in between is sufficient
>>122576236thin basic digipaks suck.thick quality digipaks are cool, especially when they come with nice booklets.same with other cardboard-type cases like digisleeves.>>122576333hate those fucking things
best of both worlds or worst of both worlds?
>>122577406Ridiculous gimmick to sell reissues
>>122577047That's like a dvd case? If yes I agree. Otherwise jewel case still better than digipaks and cardboard sleeve cases because those shits start degrading as soon as you touch them. At least jewel case is replaceable. And sleeves are either too tight or discs easily slip out.
>>122576451>There's no need to have a hard plastic shell in the first place thoughUntil they suffer any wear or damage at all, at which point, the fact that they're made of flimsy paper becomes totally relevant
>>122576535The reason they are as thick as they are is so you can read the titles on a shelf. If I had 400 thin jewel cases, how would I find one in particular at a glance?
>>122580258thick as in sturdy? the old cases are an ounce heavier than the new flimsy ones. if you mean the width, that is needed for protection if it were to get smashed. If something smashes a slimline case the inserts and disc will be damaged as well most likely>>122580231They're covered by the plastic sleeve pictured in the OP photo
>>122583011So basically jewel case is only needed in the event of a hulk smash
>>122580258I'm not sure why cds are being discussed at this time. I'll take a cd sized version of the vinyl LP cardboard sleeve. because they're thinner than the plastic cases, you can fit more on a shelf. leave some room for flipping through them.
Jewel cases reign supreme.
A5 cases are fucking shit.
>>122577406Slip covers suck, especially for CDs.
