A lot of 00's pop hits sound like dogshit today. Why didn't it age as well as 80's or 90's pop?

this is what i say when people are saying music has only gotten worse recently. popular music has been horrendous for at least 20 years now. the only thing i can say about current music that's worse is there are definitely many songs that have reached new lows in terribleness. however, there are also many songs today that are way less cringe than those from 20 years ago. so overall, it's about the same.

you're on crack, my guy; 80s pop music sounds uniquely dated compared to that of both previous & subsequent decades. even in the late 90s & early 00s, people were already meming on it for sounding like goofy, antiquated shit

yeah OP there was a lot of '00s pop that sounds like it could have been made in the last 5 years... can't say the same for the '80s...

My personal thesis is that most boomer artists & producers of the late 70s/early 80s didnt really know how to deal with contemporary radical developments & innovations in music recording, production, & synthesizer technologies, so they all snorted tons of cocaine & spent the decade throwing as much wonky shit against the wall as they could & seeing what stuck versus what failed

All of those sound old.
