Why there aren't any trans singer-songwriters? It seems like a good way for trans folk to express themselves.
>>122588241There's been a fair few and SOPHIE was well on her way to the pop stratosphere before she fucked it horribly, albeit via the trust fund route
Also I suppose if anything it's that transexual women have been uniformly urged by their subculture down the electronic route so they all make breakcore etc. like lemmings, + a few nasally metal and folkpunk outliers. I guess that isn't singer/songwriter per se. So I agree with you OP insofarasmuch as we really need a tranny punk rock / power-pop movement by now, especially in the UK. Buzzcocks kinda stuff but with traggots.
>>122588241Katie Dey is good if you ignore everything she's made since 2020. then you've got Devi Mccallion who i think is genuinely brilliant if you can get past the fact she has the single most unpleasant voice ever recorded.
Me, I'm just wondering how / why Wendy Carlos has risen to such prominence in the last few years. That was a name I'd hear only in passing, and it's not like xer stuff is allowed on Youtube or streaming now. Cause it's not
>>122588487>her>she>>122588510>she's
>>122588539it's more of a social convention at this point than a genuine statement of belief. it doesn't make sense to me to call people who look and sound women men.
>>122588555>implying they look and sound like women
>>122588566close enough
>>122588515All her rare definitive ESD (East Side Digital) remasters of her work got put on soulseek in lossless
>>122588566this lol
>>122588589Thanks for the tip, anon.
>>122588241They do it through autistic beep-boops. Writing good lyrics are hard.
>>122588241because the ftm voice is very hard to listen to>>122588515because they're transgender
>>122588566I'm not fruity but Hunter Schafer confuses me enough it's easier to just say she/her with that voice or I start stumbling over my words trying to correct myself constantly
>>122588846autistic beep-boops are cool though, though less from the trans side and more from general autists
>>122588878*mtf whoops
>>122588241>In 1998, Carlos sued the songwriter/artist Momus for $22 million regarding the song "Walter Carlos" (from the album The Little Red Songbook, released that year), which postulated that after the sex reassignment surgery Wendy could travel back in time to marry her pre-transition self, Walter.[56] The case was settled out of court, with Momus agreeing to remove the song from subsequent editions of the CD and owing $30,000 in legal fees
>>122588241Anon, they don't want to express themselves. That's why they pretend to be somebody else.
>>122588241Doesn't the lead singer of Against Me fit that profile?>>122588515The Clockwork Orange OST is still a classic.

>>122588589Why should I care though?
>>122588241i lovedddd the I Will Be Pretty When I Die EP. It's made by a tranny i think, its emo folk, and its really pretty...doesnt really talk about troon experiences though
>>122588241my wife likes Ezra Furman and took me to a show recently. it wasn't bad, wasn't my thing though.
