Call me crazy. But I sold my Boogie Mark V25, JVM410H, Mesa Recto 2x12 and a pedalboard with 10 effects to get a Katana Artist MK2 combo with the footswitch and a japanese ESP Eclipse. And I’m SO HAPPY that I did. Now I have an incredible guitar and an all-in-one, no hassle amp that sounds great.

I'd also like to admit that I'm a complete sucker for a lot of the crap that's on the edge of audiophile snakeoil. I have ovaltone cables and oil in paper capacitors, I have an expensive guitar picked out for the wood in its body and fretboard, I need to use just the right master8 strings for the tone I want, and I am honestly telling you I hear or feel more in those choices than a soldano, JVM, boogie, or any other tube amp. I don't even get the buyers remorse over it, since those amps hold their value pretty well, and trying out a katana artist is just chump change.

You're better of understanding the scales by intervals (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc) methods of transitioning to other keys (flat 3rd, etc), which will give you a true comprehensive understanding of what really is some basic theory, and allow your improv to really take off by giving opportunity for chromaticism, as you'll actually understand what you're doing and where to do it. Learn a scale you like on one string only to start. After you get the idea, the entire neck is a "position" for that scale. Also helps in building triads and sevenths, and you'll actually get what it means to be a diminishes/augmented/minor seventh, etc. Once you have those basics down guitar is actually really easy.

I have a hand made point to point wired fender bassman head clone with matching 2x12 from the 70s made in australia. it has EL34's instead of 6L6's and sounds great if you turn it up but it's too loud to use so I end up using my Marshall MG30CFX most of the time. that is until i recently bought a Katana go.
