I think it finally grew on me...Anyone else have a tough time accepting this album at first? I saw the Blackstar orchestral tribute concert in DC the other day, and I think it really helped me appreciate the jazziness of it all, and the craftsmanship of Bowie. It's not something I would immediately put on while working or driving as honestly I would fall asleep soon. But it is nicely done, well executed, and mysterious.
>>122597149Bowie's most mediocre album and thats saying a lot
It's a good album and it's better knowing that he was planning to euthanize himself. That "where the fuck did Monday go" is line was because his suicide appointment was on a Monday. He's still a bitch for not just treating his cancer but what can you do.
I think there's a lot of good stuff on it, but the production is quite poor and lets it down. It's too clean and poppy - should have been mixed more like Heroes or some shit
>>122597149It was the opposite for me, i loved it the first time, but after 2 or 3 listens i was bored. It's mid
>>122597263Source?
>>122597241There's no fucking way that it's more mediocre than Hours, Black Tie, both tin machine albums, buddha of suburbia, etc...>>122599166I think the sterile production plays into the theme quite well
>>122597241Never Let Me Down and Reality are his worst albums by far
>>122600062Reality is not that bad, I see it pretty similarly to Heathen
>>122600062Reality is great, pleb
>>122597149man I still remember listened to the single of it, was kinda surprised Bowie came out with another work pretty fast since it was just less than 3 years after 'The Next Day' came out, kinda weird but whatever. Then the album was dropped and then he just passed away like that.>>122597263pretty sure he had his rounds of chemo but that wasn't enough to make his cancer stop spreading.
>>122597149#59 album of all time according to RYM, btw
>>122601153better than most celebrated slop there that's for sure
