Why do people hate cassettes? They really don't sound as bad as some claim if you play them in a decent deck and if they're original licensed copies not bootlegs.
>>122600665>Why do people hate cassettesbecause digital audio is strictly superiorthere's a good reason why everyone switched to CDs when they were invented>They really don't sound as bad as some claimnot true, they sound like ass, and they sound more like ass the more you play themJust all-around worse than CDs, WEBs, and Vinyl. They're fragile, terrible for seeking/skipping, and the art is minuscule. They're not allowed on private trackers unless it's the ONLY media something was released on, justifiably so.
>>122600665people don't hate cassettessome people don't have a cassette player in their component system. some people don't even have a component system with a big silver face receiver and giant speakers.
>>122600665Obsolete. MCs were cheap, the easiest medium to record on and the most portable medium. They aren't anything of this anymore. Now they are just hipster premium priced background radiation collectors.
>>122600956good things about cassettes. If you have a cassette player in your car, you're in luck. cassettes are better than vinyl in the car, maybe better than cd. cassettes would survive the floor of the car better than a cd without its case. Audio quality of the cassette is sufficient for the car.2. Where do you get cassettes? They're often at lower prices, like $5 at a smaller indie show. And when you buy them, they fit very nicely into your back pocket. You are drunk, a bit, at a show, and you might go to another venue to another show. Do you want to be lugging around a $20 vinyl, a $10 CD, or a $5 cassette. You might have already gone to pirate bay for the flac. If you have a pretty old car with - no aux, 5 disc cd changer in the trunk, and cassette, and you have a radio option, and you buy cassettes at venues for $5, putting them in your back pocket, that all works out pretty fine. Cassette is better than 128 mp3. Don't know exactly what it's equal to. not as good as 24/48 stereo uncompressed.
>>122600665What people? What cassettes? Whose claim?Oh wait never mind this is a brain dead timewaster thread.
>>122600665Rewinding is annoying
Cassettes wear out very fast to the point of unplayability after a while, and you lose fidelity with each play. They are only practical for recording, and playing once, and that's all. Also, they tend to deteriorate after a while no matter how well you store them or care for them.
>>122600665Out of all mainstream physical formats (CD/vinyl/minidisc/8 track/compact cassette), compact cassettes had:>worst audio quality>worst convenience (rewinding)
>>122601587>Cassette is better than 128 mp3It's not. 128kbps MP3 from a modern version of LAME is surprisingly good. Hear for yourself:https://abx.digitalfeed.net/lame.128.html
