The search has gone completely dry. They’ve exhausted every possible lead, down to contacting the host of the radio show it was played on and whoever was organising the station’s archive, both of whom didn’t have it. It’s very likely some demo thrown together by a small local group who submitted it to the station hoping it would get them attention. It didn’t, they likely broke up and moved on and that was that. The only way it’s ever going to be identified is if one of the original band members comes out and reveals their involvement along with proof that it’s them. Otherwise no one will know. It’s not like that porno song that got found recently where nobody had a copy, the full song is already there and it’s just about attaching a name to it, which honestly is far less of an interesting draw
