No they just had countless studio musicians keep showing up until someone played something good then took credit for it
>>
>>122905571
The only people that deserve writing credits on a song are whoever wrote lyrics, melodies, and the chord progressions.
>>

You neither look like this, nor do you say it.

Just makes them even more based.

Also Walter did the solos on Josie and Home At Last and they're some of my favourites.

Sterile elevator music

walter becker played the solo on pretzel logic
>>
I thought Fagen played the piano/keyboards and sang and Becker played the guitar and bass. Is this not the case?
>>

They did but they also later became a band that extensively used the very best session musicians at the time. Maybe the point of OP is that they should be credited more for their contributions to SD records.

Not my problem, SD made great music

I LOVE STEELY DAN THREADS

Interesting, any idea as to what point in their career they switched to hiring other musicians?

From the beginning huh. I wonder if any other bands have done that, I think it's a smart way guarantee you're putting out quality shit.
>>
>>122905571
>None of the good parts were played by them

>first two albums (CBAT and Countdown)
Mostly the original band + occasional studio pros
>Pretzel Logic
Couple more studio pros like Jeff Pocaro and Victor Feldman
>Katy Lied and thereafter
They stopped touring, disintegrated the original band and used lots of studio pros (but still used Denny Dias and Mike McDonald)
