media stardom isn't supposed to make sense.
some dudes are just lucky - right place, right time.
don't take it more serious than that.

He was legendary being singer of Black Sabbath. He met a woman who was able to get him great musicians and an amazing guitar player like Randy Rhodes.. they marketed him as a new taste of metal in the burgeoning NWOBHM scene. Everyone basically started copying this kind of metal afterwards. Did anything really sound like this in 1980?

true, but imo, he was definitely the weakest link in sabbath (tho i'm not really an expert on them).

they would have probably done as well or better with numerous other singers.

but he was in right place at right time (also think he had a p.a. or something too, despite being from a supposedly poor family)

it all snowballed from there. (mainly because the singer almost invariably becomes the most famous person in whatever band ....... so he had a very valuable brand even after getting the boot).

i personally didn't like his solo stuff very much.

seems like a humble, relatable guy tho which is probably another cause for his mega-stardom.

Actually the album sucks, but these songs were much better when performed live, in concert.
