Why don't consumer products have their own bands anymore? For example Sugar Crisp cereal had a band called the Sugar Bears in the early-70's. Their first album spawned a hit single:

If you were a musician looking for a big break, wouldn't you like to be able to join the Ajax® Powder Cleanser with Bleach band (I'm sure they'd call it 'The Jaxies' or something)? Or the Purina Cat Chow band (The Meowsers)? Why don't companies make these kinds of investments anymore?
