Naturally dominant high-testerone males with a penchant for violence and brutality are drawn to music like Cannibal Corpse and Obituary, but I think even more than that - and maybe to some degree it's a feedback loop kind of effect - but I think listening to those kind of bands on a consistent basis has a physiognomical effect on the development of a person's facial and physical anatomy. By the same token, I believe if you listen to listen to weak onions hipster metal you will grow to look the part. Moral of the story: if you want to look like a high-t male then osdm and uspm are the metal genres you want to be listening to on a daily basis.

I'm not to sure what the make of Xasthur or Strid in my timeline. Of the two Strid is certainly the more tame, I don't think it really makes the cut, not really that dissonant and also not very aggressive. Xasthur has some dissonant chords, but its so buried in the mix that it doesn't really come off as so. I think a major part of third wave is an outright delight and enjoyment of the jagged sharp sound of dissonant chords, and the production of Xasthur doesn't allow for that. Now Wrest does quote him as an interview, but I wonder if he really got the sound for something like "Fucking Your Ghost In Chains of Ice" from Xasthur and not something like Thorn's S/T (which he also states is an influence).Taking a peak into the earlier USBM, Judas Iscariot is next. Doubt I will find much of interest, but Adam does state he enjoys JI.

I do, however, respect Prozak for all that he has done for metal over the years. Although he's slightly uptight, I wish that others would follow in his path of creating a serious movement of metal in place with information and the like.
