Why was their music so good?
>>123651955Theres literally no difference between Serbian polka and Mexican regional music. Literally the two worst genres in existence.
>>123651955>we want the autistic /pol/ chud audience
>>123652262>Serbian polkakoji kurac
>>123651955Geographically well located for many cultural and musical influences to overlap, whereas culturally and lingually united enough so things could infuse well and be fairly authentic. Late 70s, the whole of the 80s and the early 90s in the aftermath countries were peak. Now it's just a simulacra.
>>123651955I've heard one Yugoslav album that a friend from former Yugoslavia showed me. It was alright, but not something I'd regularly listen to. I don't see how their music is nearly as good as any notable American scene or British scene from the same time period. It is abnormally good by the standards of a socialist country though.
>>123651955>>123654954To clarify, that's the only full album I've bothered to listen to from Yugoslavia. I've heard other random songs from various bands too though.
>>123652262okay I despise turbofolk but like wtf are you talking about? Polka????>>123654625they were also both politically and culturally connected to both eastern and western blocks which meant unlike the eastern block most people in Yugoslavia had easy access to western records and were aware of what was going on musically west>>123654954>>123654965Here are some reccs from me if you're interested -Demolition Group: Mizerika - there is a rougher casette version on youtube and the more produced vinyl version of the album up to you to choose-Pekinska Patka - Monotonija - this is a great post-punk record by a group more known for their first mediocre punk album-Haustor - Treći Svijet - a reggae influenced new-wave post punk album with a unique sound, their later albums would go for a more typical new wave/pop sound of the 80sTrivalia - Telo i Dusa - goth rock that mixes lo-fi goth rock with orthodox church music influences and is even sung in old church slavic sometimes-Satan Panonski - basically the Yugoslav GG Allen but actually artsy and interesting and fought in a war while making an album-Termiti - Vjeran Pasmainstream boomer bands idc about but people like:Zabranjeno Pušenje, Prljavo Kazalište, Bajaga i Instruktori, Parni Valjak, Divlje Jagode
