You guys like Phish, right?
>>
Eh, I prefer Hendrix.

Sure but at this point they're pretty much a geriatric band. Especially considering the drummer dropped acid like 10,000 times in his life. Dude is old and brain fried

they still put on amazing shows and know their limits/specialize in layered jams/the live experience and fishman is still an amazing drummer

i saw ZZ Top at the Target center back around then.

I first saw Phish in 1989 in Boston. One of my college buddies was "co-manager" at the time

I think most people on /mu/ would like their 1999 and 2000 jams the most. Picrel is a good show to start with, you should be able to find it everywhere. Don't bother with their studio albums

post best song

I'd say Divided Sky is pretty entry level but excellent, some weirder ones are You Enjoy Myself, Fluffhead and The Lizards (listen to the live 95 new years one)

Can just pick like New Years 95', The Spectrum, The Gorge, Clifford Ball, Bakers Dozen from Spotify

Rift is the only studio I'd recommend

Yes, been a fan since 03’. I wasn’t able to catch any 2.0 shows unfortunately, but my first was Knoxville 09’. The nitrous scene in that parking garage was amazing. Miss those days.

Split Open and Melt is an underrated classic, the jam at this show isn't great though.
The rest of the show is great though

Based Fukuoka enjoyer. This has always been my “go to” show if I’m ever craving for that sound. One of the best second sets ever. Holy shit.

Phish is cool my dad followed them and the dead in the 90's. But them and the dead always remind me of being to psych'ed out on LSD and being super spun out, and I don't like that feeling--and I suppose all that music encourages that, so, idk.

They enjoyed the psychedelics, the music was secondary.
But in all seriousness, the hippies of the 60's and 70's were onto something, and that thing has been lost ever since.
Do you know what I do when I get high on psychedelics? I watch gore footage. I watch combat footage. I watch the world as it truly is.
And I start to think of the best ways I could become a killer, of what I must do and the threats I might face.
The innocence is lost.

Yeah sure. They're fun to see live, very good musicians, some cool compositions, puts on a good show. People who hate them generally just hate the scene (which is totally understandable) and have never given them a good listen.

It’s a cult masquerading as a band. My first show was the Lemonwheel, sent me down a stupid path, caught them at Great Woods a couple months ago after 10 years of avoidance.
