I have tried to learn baroque counterpoint, but I'm honestly torn apart because trying to cling to a past that not longer exist and my love of more modern works. To me the whole details and ornamentation of baroque is what I love, but I feel that polyphonyc treatment to melodies, is now a much worse approach to melodies.polyphony is cool, but is murky and lacks the emotional power of just a single frontal melody line.Is much easier to provide a clearer message where there's a single voice to focus on.Doesn't mean that a secondary melody couldn't enter a dialog. But I feel monophony has a lot of advantages compared to polyphony.I think what I want to say is that I would like to explore a modern monophonic and modern approach to the style of baroque era.
