Most American Bands weren't shrooming really. Lou Reed was also hooked on heroin. Jefferson Airplane sang more about weed than actual psychedelics. I'm sure they did some but Psychedelics are cheaper in European Countries too. It was more British and German Rock Acts that actually tripped all the time because mushrooms grow naturally more in cold climates. They also didn't smoke as much weed as the American Bands did because this is harder to grow in Europe and generally lower quality.

I think some grow in Massachusetts or can be grown but that's because we unironically have similar weather to a country like England or Germany. Most of The USA is too warm. That's why they were getting LSD from sketchy sources. Maybe some of the possible "literal fed" bands like The Doors or Grateful Dead or Love because Arthur Lee was let's be realistic here a drug dealer and making it himself were but most of the American "Acid Rock" Scene most of the time wars probably just smoking weed. There's a good chance The Beatles or CAN couldn't get bud at all. The only euro bands that could reliably would have been the ones from The Netherlands. Thus a lot of American "Psychedelia" was literally just about Marijuana. European Bands and Artists also drank more overall (Hendrix is an exception to this but Hendrix didn't actually really trip much either he did Heroin and got shitface drunk,Arthur Lee though he tripped constantly to the point where he qas basically hurting himself doing so).
