They feel like they just treat music as it is...as mostly the only product. There's nothing behind them that's kind of bigger than the music itself. Does anyone really follow these almost like a religion or all encompassing lifestyle? You could say that's kind of pathetic about rock, but it's also fun. Does anyone actually take seriosly any crazy shit about pop. No crossroads demons, no King (or sightings of the ghost said King), no mythical instruments, no Paul is Dead, no Helter Skelter, no 27 Club.
Rap kind of has some mythology, but its mostly conspiracy theories like the memphis sigils or the prison system stuff
