I love this place so much. Haven't found anything better (don't know why I need to). It made exploring new music so easy for me. Share what you love about this place.

yep, its the only place I use for searching music. I have found a few exceptions of discs that are not there but im sure it has like 99.9% of all discs. The only thing bad about it is 404 waiting
>>

>404 waiting
Never encountered it. Not sure what you mean
>>

It's much better than trannyland

>largest archive of album art, liner notes and lyric sheets to ever exist
>limit image size to 600x600 pixels
>makes 99% of liner notes and lyrics too small to read

I hardly use RYM but found some nice lists so it has added value to me, just not for discography purposes. Can you give me a qrd of the tranny thing?
>>123676450
>Complain about a discography website because the lyrics (an extra/less important feature) are unreadable
Petty. Just check out whatever is the best lyrics website
>>
>>123676500
RYM suffers from extreme political correctness and many of the users are terminally online trannies. It's basically twitter for music.
>>
>>123676500
>why want correct lyrics directly from the artist?
>just look up the fan transcribed ones that are almost always wrong
kys zoomer
>>
>>123676500
I mean there’s not much to explain, it’s just full of obnoxious trannies. I recall someone posted a review for a Katy Perry single recently that gave it a 1/5 because the song wasn’t written with troons in mind. That kind of thinking

been slow as FUCK lately and for less well known artists it can have very spotty information. the organization is also really fucking annoying (releases under alternate names, have to check them all, the fuck is this bullshit). still, more useful than any other site I've found, but I still cross reference everything with wikipedia and other sources.
>>
>>123676994
>releases under alternate names, have to check them all
why tho
>>
>>123677006
because the list of shit under an artist's name is often missing stuff
>check artist first name last name
>wait why can't I find album
>have to check all variations of artist name (first initial last name, all initials, pseudonyms, etc etc) and even then might still be missing for some other reason
fucking retarded
>>
love the marketplace, so many great deals on records there.
>>
>>123676308
not perfect or complete by any means but it's the first place I reference when wanting to know more about an artist I'm not familiar with
>>
>>123676308
This is the actual logo idiot
>>
I can't imagine using Discogs for finding music, and I'll never use RYM for any purpose, but Discogs is great for finding vinyl, getting ideas of market prices, etc.
>>
>>123676308
I just use it to look up median prices for records when I'm shopping or listing them. It also seems that it would be good for finding stuff that is uncommon but not necessarily popular; I'd never buy anything that's popular off of there.
>>
>>123676308
I just realized it's "disc og's"? Or am I right in calling it "diskogs" even though I dno what that means. I remember using it in 2008 when I was a fucking retard
>>
>>123679303

>>
it was much better before the redesign
>>
>>123676308
I don't love that they jack up their seller fees every month. It seems like the company is struggling to achieve a profit. I also noticed that they stopped doing the monthly "most expensive items sold on discogs" lists because of softening sales

>I can't imagine using Discogs for finding music,
it's very good to find dance music but not so much for other genres
>>
>>123676450
>required to own the physical release to contribute
>upload shitty res scans
My main gripe with discogs

i appreciate discogs

I know the founder and CEO of Discogs and he's a really cool and generous guy.
>>
RYM is ok if you look up boomer shit like Connie Francis or something, but if you look up Kendrick Lamar reviews you deserve every bad thing that comes to you.

Found things here that I could not find elsewhere

people use discogs for anything other than properly tagging their files?

I love discogs. Copped a couple rare ass cassettes there. Good site for it.
>>
>>123680366
it's called a micro label. Releases a bunch of stuff and then disappears which is good for the artist who in the end keeps their rights
>>
>>123677026
What artists? Never had this problem.
>>123679539
Does he know /mu/? Tell him I said hi.
