I've been getting back to my roots and listening to a lot of old country. What are some good country artists to check out? I like Sturgill Simpson, Billy Strings, and Zach Bryan

Oh baby is this my favorite can of worms to crack. So country music can be pretty varied depending on what you're after, big Stu is my all time favorite but I have others that I really enjoy, and I'll try to separate it by the country subgenres so you can pick based on what you like

This is Charley Crockett, he has an older, slow texas sound with a lot of trumpets and southwestern influence. He's a super classy, showy personality. all his Lil GL albums are cover albums of very old songs

These guys are the red clay strays, they have a bluesy sound, I don't know who else to compare them to but I enjoy them a lot

I wish this guy would make more music like this. I can't recommend any other of his songs but this one hits very hard

This one is very accordion heavy and bouncy, very cajun and fun
Some names who just have a bunch of solid tracks are Tyler Childers, Charles Wesley Godwin, Colter Wall for a more stripped down folky sound; Turnpike Troubadours, Cody Jinks, Whitey Morgan and the 78s for a more high energy red dirt sound, bordering on rock; Town Mountain, the steeldrivers, and trampled by turtles for bluegrass jam bands. Thats a pretty wide range of modern country and if I remember more I'll be back in here.

Just start playlists for sturgil simpson, steeldrivers and turnpike troubadour songs. You'll find them. Outlaw grass is better imo so for that you start playlists off splitlip rayfield and greensky bluegrass.
