been reworking the gain staging on my gibson that has p90s. having issues with the fx I'm applying. distortion makes it clip hard and kills all dynamics even on the lowest settings. furthermore i cant get enough crunch in the high end of the tone. im using Amplitube 5.

>>
>>124115731
as far as I know only the short scale basses have neck dive and that’s primarily because of the strap pin location. thunderbirds are great if you are playing music that requires a pick. I don’t think the gibson dual mini humbucker arrangements sound good fingerstyle except for the sg bass which has its own unique sound when slightly over driven

upstroke/downstroke in quarter notes and then push pash that until you cant hear much space between the two, they should blend together. not too hard for chords, but when youre playing on individual strings it can be tough to be accurate

Might be good in an acoustic outfit seeing as how resonators are so loud but according bass tends to be quiet (not talking about stand-up bass, retard).

Tbh im almost all the way there. I wanted a tele deluxe and a marshal dsl amd a 4x12. I have both. I do want to upgrade the bridge pickup to a duncan jb though.

For bass i have a p bass and a j bass. The j is perfect but i havent been able to dial my p bass in i need more rasp but im afraid to crank the trust rod further. And i want an svt tube all i have is the solid state version. But i have my 4x10 cab for it i wanted. I want to upgrade both to have duncan quarter pound pickups

I dont do pedals at least not right now

>>
>>124122234
Theyre equal its a matter of preference
>>
>>124122425
>just lower the action and turn up the treble and scoop the mids?
I like a mid heavy sound and lowering the action is only giving me rasp like half way down the neck. Ill just adust the trust and if the neck breaks so be it, not useful to me as is.
>>
>>124122508
the mids will drown out the string noise you’re trying to get. not sure how lowering the action isn’t really helping you either, shouldn’t require a heavy attack
>>
>>124122513
nevermind you’re probably playing with a pick
>>
>>124122513
It works on my jazz bass. So why doesnt it work on my p. It doesnt come down to electronics or either anyway since the rasp is audible un amped on my j
>>
>>124122517
You guessed correctly
>>
>>124122522
it could very well be the neck or a high fret if you’re playing with a pick. you might actually try loosening the truss rod if you don’t play past the 12th fret much. being in the middle of the neck where there is a dip will put the strings closer to the upper register frets because of the string angle
>>
>>124122548
Oh, you might be right i didnt think about that
>>
>>124122560
it won’t do anything for the first 5 or 6 frets tho

Fair enough. I was about to point out how in the screenshots he says it's the bully's timezone which if that's the case it clearly show the dates he highlighted weren't on Christmas either but on the day before Christmas eve, 9:00 on Christmas eve, and then again a week later in Jan.

But I suppose if we're dealing with an online bullying victim driven off the deep end by a tormentor I should probably stop there.

You can get mobility with a wireless rig and also you cant fit a tube amp inside a guitar. And its hard to get a good tone out of a solid state. Also i think that it may be more risky to put all those electronics inside the guitar, since youll be running around with it instead of the amp sitting in a single static location idk shit could knock around inside?

I do like the idea kinda and i think more experimentation should be done

Fender made this ugly thing, which is kind of the reverse but i wish theyd done it a bit differently. If theyd used the deluxe style pickguard theydve had room for the rhythm circuit. Also the mint on tobacco burst looks blah and doesnt even make sense should be tort on 3 color sunburst

Thanks, Anons.
Here is my tone secret to you: take one of those tritips and flatten out the edges so you have a hexagon. The tips that play the strings should be a bit rounded, but sharper than they come from the store. Pic related.
This gives a very nice, 'nasty' tone, especially with P90s.

>>
Reminder that the Jazzmaster was Leo Fender's only design that he completely abandoned after he sold out to CBS

Strat trem is the best. All the best "whammy bar" guitarists use Strat trem or Floyd Rose, and FLoyd Rose is essentially a strat trem but with the nut and bridge strings locked down (double locking)
you are just some hipster faggot who cares about looks over functionality
That being said, Bigsbys look really cool. But they're fucking garbage functionally compared to the strat trem or the floyd rose
>>
>>124134667
Bigsbys are the best for soft, glassy smooth, albeit shallow, vibrato. JM vibes are #2. If you want divebombs, no, neither will work for that. Apples to oranges.

you can do this shit on a strat brother all you do is not move it far
and that being said, JM/Jag trem is WAY fucking better at this than a Nigsby if you are too heavy handed to actually use a strat trem
nobody on this planet would prefer a bigsby to a JM/Jag trem dude
but you probably have never used any of these systems

A bigsby can be thrown onto any guitar easily. Bam any guitar you like has a whammy bar. Cant do that with a strat trem you have to find one that already has it.

Even if the strat trem is better the bigsby has this unique advantage.

you're right. you can absolutely ruin a Telecaster or a Les Paul with a Bigsby if you want to destroy the sustain and tuning stability. It's very, very easy to install the deprecated Bigsby trem on a good guitar.

Sure. But I've come to appreciate it, I run the treble pretty high so with fresh strings, I roll this off a bit and put it back on as they age, so the sound stays consistent. Also, rolling it completely off and using a humbucker with the coils wired in parallel instead of in series is a god tier solo sound.

Gibsons are overrated. Only good because of their pickups and wiring, but now that they're coming factory in epiphones why pay the jew tax? Same wood, same pots, same switches. Save 2000 dollars, Pay a luthier 100 buckeroonis to set the guitar up and it's literally the same thing.
>>
>>124144728
>i'm poor
Ok
>>
>>124144823
Not poor, though. I literally returned my Gibson due to scratchy pots and had 3000 to spend on anything. Spend 3 hours and played every guitar in the store on a mesa dual rec. The Epi 59 sounded the best. 670 out the door I think on black friday. Paid a luthier 60 to polish the frets and adjust the action. Spent the rest on my tele and some home studio stuff. I wanted to love the Gibson but when I brought it to my luthier he basically said get your money back. He wouldn't stop talking my ear off about how good my Epi is. Take it for what it's worth.

I've never played an epiphone and thought "Wow this is a great and inspiring guitar." I've seen great players use them. I own one and have chucked some of their pickups into planks. Most epiphones don't even have the soul of real bottom barrel planks. Some of the nicer ones inch toward the cost of a studio and then what's even the point? I get some people like their jazz boxes, but we could just scrub epiphone off the market from what I gather.

The lp was an archtop body guitar which is more attractive but more expensive, with a set neck which allegedly grants a better tone but is harder to assemble in a factory than a bolt on, and for a while the easiest way to get a humbucker sound since it took a little while to get copied and to to widely available and for basic wiring skills for modding to be common knowledge

Modern engineering has made lp type guitars easier to make though and you can get humbuckers anywhere now

But Also since gibson made the lp, the sg, humbuckers, p90s etc etc if you want those things theres incentive to buy from them since theyre the original creators and also, lots of musicians people look up to played them.

Theres still reasons to play gibson but increasingly... there are more incentives to buy alternatives and copies

the main reason to get a Gibson over an Epiphone is they are literally better than Epiphones.
Yes, I've played and owned Epiphones, they are fine. But it will nag at you. You will know in your heart that you are playing a budget copy of the real thing. You're better off saving a bit more money and getting the real thing.
Especially now since even Epi Les Pauls are a thousand dollars.
Back when I was a kid, the Epiphone Les Pauls cost 1/4 of the Gibsons
now they cost 1/2
just literally work another 2 weeks at Taco Bell and get the real thing
>>
never owned an epeiphone, the ones floating around in the late 2000s/early 2010s when i was in the market for cheap shit were peak junk era for them and its permanently put me off
>>
>>124147460
>>124147391
They are the coolest looking guitars. When I was a kid, a Gibson SG was my white whale. I love AC/DC and Black Sabbath. The fact that SG's were cheaper than Les Pauls was a bonus But I learned to play on a Yamaha Pacifica, and I remember trying Epi G400s... and they all sucked. Yeah, because they're Epiphones right?
I eventually grew up, got money and shit. But the cold hard truth is, SG's feel like shit sitting down or standing up. Visually striking... coolest looking electric guitar. But they feel like shit playing sitting down, and standing up they neck dive.
The truth is a Squier Telecaster feels better because of the retarded ergonomics of the SG.
It's a shame, because like I said a few times they are the coolest looking electric.

bro a lemon on a Gibson les paul is a bubble in the finish. a lemon on an Epiphone is trash because the heck is twisted

That's the one they sent to Trogly to be reviewed on his channel, to be seen by millions of guitar players. That's a "choice" model.

heh that’s pretty funny. still don’t know why you would get a retarded ugly finish

you. you talked about QC. you would have to be stupid to not recognize a guitar was fucked up when playing it, so QC is not an issue for a smart shopper.

>strings not aligned over pole pieces
>saddles jammed all the way back
>bridge holes in the wrong place
>stop piece misaligned
>racing stripes very very obviously misaligned
>sent out to a youtube partner shill as part of the marketing campaign
That guitar got through at least 5 layers of "QC" checking to show up as the public representation of the brand. That should be embarrassing for any guitar maker with a conscience.

buying a semi hollow signiggerature model of a dude who can't even play is embarrassing even if the guitar wasn't botched at the factory

the only thing misaligned is the racing stripe
everything else is skewed from lens distortion/viewing angle

Epiphone is a lot better than the inummerable no name fender clones.

But also id say epiphones lowest calibur of guitars is worse than squiers and its not close. Although epiphones top of the line is probably a bit better than squiers best. Or was, recent years seem rough for quality assurance
>>
>calibur
>>
>>124148942
the only epiphones in the last 40 years that weren't complete garbage came out of japan and even then they were still mediocre copies of their gibson counterparts when compared directly together, pic related. no one in their right mind would choose a japanese elitist byrland over a gibson byrdland if they could afford the real thing. they're not even comparable guitars. epiphone's are budget compromise guitars even when they're as good as they can get, with the exception of the handful of limited editions that were been made in the united states like the john lennon usa casinos

all the shit that came out of korea in the 80s/90s and china from the 2000s until now is plasticity low quality trash. it's a poorfag guitar for broke teenagers or grown losers who couldn't afford the real thing

They actually did make some of the Elitist Epiphones with the open book headstock, the problem was they didn't sell well so the Japanese factory producing them discontinued the entire line and canceled their licencing contract with Gibson. Turns out there's an extremely limited market for players who want a spruce topped jazz archtop like this and if they're going to shell out the money for one they'd rather buy the Gibson version for $7000 vs. a budget version for $2700.

Proving once again the old saying is just as true today as it has ever been:
>Only a Gibson™ is good enough

Oh no, sir! That's not even the best part of the story!

They released the Elitist series because of exactly what you said: poorfags were online bemoaning Gibson prices. So they responded to 'market demand' (lol) with a new line of Japanese made Epiphones complete with an 'improved' headstock design to give straighter string pull behind the nut, which was another 'problem' Gibsons 'supposedly' had according to the online poorfag 'expertise' (LMAO).

But guess what happened when they released them? That's right! None of the poorfags crying online bought any! Then the poorfag goalposts suddenly shifted:
>"I'm not buying one because it doesn't have the Gibson open book headstock!"

So Epiphone Japan/Gibson called their bluff and changed the headstocks, pictured here >>124149595. They even rolled out an ad campaign blitz featuring My Chemical Romance who were an insanely popular pop punk group at the time, pic related.

You know what happened then? Yep. That's right! They STILL didn't sell. After they changed the headstock sales actually went down even further so they cancelled the whole line. They tried to give poorfags EVERYTHING they claimed to have wanted to no avail!

This is when Gibson decided to completely dismiss anything and everything poorfags complaining online said and focus on clients with money to spend.

So you're entirely correct
>poorfaggotry: not even once
As Epiphone Japan/Gibson learned firsthand with the Elitist series.

they're pretending to do it again right now with the inspired by series but this time they're not trying to give the poorshits a reasonably made mij guitar, it's just the same cheap low quality chinkplanks as the regular epis but with the open book headstock added. i guess they got burned and learned their lesson on poorshits being willing to spend cash for something decent. good for them i say lmao poorshits should be made to suffer
