Imo favorite AIC LP along with the rawness of Unplugged, can't speakst for /mu/ there's a lot of artistic liberties taken and routes explored on self titled that enhance after every listen, specific moments, for example listen to Again to spot them, Nothin' Song, God Am, etc. It's more down the hole than Dirt, depression-wise, if that's possible. Jerry was really peaking here far as riffs and songwriting. The self-titled is a long labor to get through, rollercoaster, unlike the cohesiveness of Dirt. I can listen to this thing in whole because I remember the moment when I peeled back the plastic and slipped AIC into my discman, Grind was debuting on KROQ, all the feels, it would later remind me of STP Tiny Music and Scott's vocals. the robust 90s vocal for these bands were now more thinned out in the mix

Interdasting is that this LP doesn't get repressed, no anniversary edition, lays in purgatory, strange

Dear God, how have you been then?
I'm not fine, fuck pretending
All of this death you're sending
Best throw some free heart mending
Invite you in my heart, then
When done, my sins forgiven?
This God of mine relaxes
World dies, I still pay taxes
Can I be as my God am?
Can you be as God am?
Can I be as my God am?
God of all my God am
So Lord, I see you grinning
Must be grand always winning
How proud are you being able
To gather faith from fable?

I love this album except hate the song Grind.

overrated band

never really liked their s/t, but i admit i'm a very casual fan. i felt they were at their best when layne wasn't doing that weird vocal impression where every single word was 4x longer than it needed to be and came off like he was groaning. no idea how to describe it, but his delivery on their first two is super sharp and engaging

i have a similar problem with nirvana though, i don't think grunge is 4 me

I know what you mean, and I agree. It's because he was drugged out of his mind.

I want to see Sean Kinney singing Beth a capella and getting the entire stadium to boo him (this actually happened)

wasn't his drug use more or less the same during the s/t as it was JoF? or was he just less on the stuff during recording? i can skim through a bit of wiki reading but nothing really concrete without going super deep into it

Sap is underrated.
