>>124183680Don't start with Rain Dogs. Start with Swordfishtrombones.Alternatively, you could go chronologically, but he has a big discography, and you might not be inclined toward his early 70s blues.
By listening to his works?
Bourbon.
Listen to them all starting at the beginning
>>124183680I watched an interview of his where the interviewer asked him how he was doing and he replied "I'm better than nothing" and that's been my go-to response for years. I should really listen to his music as thanks
>>124183680first you need to walk through the garden
>>124183680I think Waits is great to listen to chronologically, His progression from smokey ballad singer to ragged screaming art rock is an awesome listen. Those middle period albums are really fucking good, Blue Valentine, Foreign Affairs. He has good shit on every album though so just have fun and listen and absorb his genius. Bone Machine is an awesome later career highlight and the huge outtakes album Orphans is worth listening to, lots of amazing songs on it.
>>124183680Closin time - > Alice -> Rain Dogs -> Real Gone/Heart attack and vine -> Nighthawk -> swordfishtrombone
Small Change especially Step Right Up, and The Piano Has Been Drinking.
