Low bridge, too much relief, or high nut. You basically need to measure all three.
>>
>>124357127

High frets or neck needs less relief. The nut is not at play when you're freting that far from the nut.
>>
>>124357172
Imagine the nut is high, but player "adjusts action" for a given height at 12th fret.

btw that’s called string noise and the amount of string noise a player wants to hear is entirely up to taste. string noise is what gave geezer butler his sound in black sabbath

>>
>>124358817
Follow the conversation you stupid fuck. I'll break it down in simple points so your monkey brain can understand.

1. Anon asks what pick we use
2. A different anon says they use their fingers.
3. Presumably first anon says that fingers are too quiet.
4. I call out to that anon that fingers are just as loud as picks because neither is louder than the other it depends on how hard you strum with either.
5. Anon shifts the goalposts moving from volume to saying the attack is different (if you don't know what attack means in the context of a guitar pick you're literally not supposed to be in this thread)
6. I inform anon that attack is not the same thing as volume.
7. You post the dumbest fucking question that makes no sense at all and indicates your lack of reading comprehension.

Hope the list helps you understand.
>>
>>124358718
it is. it's the volume of the physical sound of the object hitting the strings. go fuck yourself.
>>
>>124358948

You dumb bitch, he is picking softer when using his fingers because he has baby girl hands. If you put the same energy through a pick its going to be just as loud. The only reason a pick sounds louder is because you don't feel it so you put more energy into the strum, just don't be a fucking pansy and put more energy into your fingers.

I got gifted a guitarlele and wanted to add strap pins but when I was looking to install them I realised it doesn't have an end block to screw into. I know there is other ways to attach a strap but I already got the pins. Any way I can glue a small piece of wood into the end and not fuck the sound completely? Or something else I can attach the pin securely into. I believe the body is mahogany in case that matters at all.

They keep the best ones in-country. There are premium product lines they only sell in Japan, and yes, they are better than the American ones.
>>
>>124363891
>>124359808
My old JM from Japan (no longer have it) was definitely not as good. The pickups were shrill and only had a jm like cover and the body was basswood (not that I have anything against that. I like it, but it's not the same). Metal parts were some fragile jank. It used to be hard find the parts needed to get something like this up to speed, but now Fender has gone all in making a variety of US models.

Whats wrong with using your wrist to strum? How the fuck are you supposed to strum without using your wrist? Am I being trolled?
>>
>>124368825
Biomechanics.
Your wrist muscles are tiny compared to your elbow, the majority of the power should be coming from your elbow, your wrist is for accents, triplets and extremely precise string skipping/economy picking. You should not be using your wrist for a full power 6 string chord, that should be coming from your elbow as that can generate much more force than your wrist.

If you exclusively use your wrist enjoy your early onset carpal tunnel and tennis elbow.

I don’t think so. a lot of guitarists probably find it hard because it takes rhythmic precision that they don’t have. guitar is one of the least important instruments in funk tho. one of the best genres especially if you’re the person that lumps it in with soul. it’s just jazz without all the pretentious faggotry and less boring and formulaic than blues

hold the pick between your thumb and the side of your index finger, the point of the pick should be at a 90 degree angle to your thumb. hold the pick at a 45 degree angle to the string, don't exaggerate the angle, pick from your wrist. you must start slow using a metronome and build all the relevant twitch muscles and fibres to bring it up to speed. the pick should move the string, not the string resisting or moving you. down, up, down, up, in even, symmetrical, perfectly subdivided notes. the fast technique is the same as the slow technique, but you need to build stamina and endurance with lots of practice. don't dig your palm into the strings because you're straining. don't exaggerate your movements because you're straining, always try to stay in control with total economy of motion, this develops naturally with practice. experiment with "feeling" the recruitment from the forearm and the shoulder but never actually move these joints, all of your picking should be coming from the wrist.

that said, if all i want is pure trem picking on one string, i anchor my fingers to the body of the guitar and turn my hand into a drill. the key in both techniques is to make things rigid, predictable and repeatable to increase your chances of being able to command the guitar, you should be commanding the guitar and not the other way around. a light to medium gauge (0.88mm, 1.00mm) pointed pick like a jazz iii or tortex iii helps, less mass bisecting the string under full tension, less resistance. mostly, practice.
>>
>>124370056
Nice troll. The /g/ albums are all objectively terrible.
>>
>>124370861
you must forgive cumshitter, we trained him wrong on purpose as a joke
>>
>>124359167
i need to clarify - the 45 degree angle of the pick relative to the string is a DOWNWARD angle, do not angle your wrist 45 degrees upward, i should have specified. all of this is in the interest of developing a natural, predictable, repeatable, successful technique with as little resistance from the guitar and as high chance a success rate at playing the guitar as possible, if it feels wrong, it is. the method i've described will truly reinforce that the motions come from the wrist. if you're sceptical or you think this is weird, give it a chance. this is how some of the best guitar players in the world instruct flat pick technique, at least in rock and metal contexts.

I'm incapable of making good music but that does not mean I am incapable of identifying good music. My music is already posted if you really want to listen you'll find it.
>>
>>124368825
you use a combination of wrist, forearm and elbow to strum, isolating the movement to only the wrist won't give you a wide enough arc. you CAN strum from the wrist, but i have a feeling your tone, the loudness with which you can strum and general musical expression will be much better incorporating the forearm and elbow more predominantly. guitar as a skill is basically a sport and you need to understand the biomechanics of it like the other anon said. there are pros and cons to every technique, some techniques have much more pros than cons, using the best sounding AND most efficient AND most sustainable technique for the proper execution of any given music you want to play on guitar is the goal.

I find it really funny that we've gone from the dark ages of Gibson having a shit reputation/bad product ideas throughout most of the 2000s-2010s, to now Fender becoming the new laughing stock of the big-name guitar makers.

Also half their amps are dogshit. The Princetons and Pro Juniors are okay but the Blues Jr, Tonemaster, Deluxe, and silverface reissues are all subpar noisey junk with bad speakers and electronic components.
