>be a CD-era boomer
>have a desire to look into vinyls
>go to local physical kinostore
>browse the vinyl area
>wtf, these prices
>as much as Blu ray prices
>remember fondly my last high school years and my CD collection
>browse the CD area
>find two death metal anniversary edition albums
>I have the originals from release day
>played so many times, the CD cases are loose
>get them
>come home
>look at them
>feel warm inside thinking of 2002
Tl;Dr
I got some death metal anniversary CDs from my high school era.
ps. Fuck paper digipacks in general
>>
Based. I've been buying back most of my favorites on CD for the past few years. Never been a vinyl fan so it's nice to see the CD resurgence. Not a fan of the digipak either. I get why labels are doing it but i prefer the jewel case.

I got the virus again. I thought to make a list of my top albums and get them physical.
If I manage when I am back home find the boxes in the attic and get the original discs that I bought.

Will we ever get a remaster of this masterpiece? It's been treated like dogshit by Amy et. al for too long.

I’m glad you learned what every physical music collector learns one way or another, having a large mostly vinyl collection is a pain in the ass, you need pricey equipment to enjoy it properly, takes up a shit ton of room, wears easily, the vinyls themself are expensive, so yeah, just stick to CD and cassettes, with the exception of vinyl only and rare releases.

I have a new BD collection. I haven't collected media in decades but this year I started again.
Same with vinyls, I am hesitant with 4K and go almost all the time with BD.

>MM and LP are only available in crappy, damaged digipaks
We are back in 1999. Feels good.

Collecting 4k brd is a gateway drug, that's where I started.
Now I have
>A vcr/dvd player and vhs/dvd collection
>Sega genesis and game collection
>175lb 32in crt I need to ask a friend for help if I want to move it around
>Newest addition, turntable and vinyl collection
>>

Why do we do this? I believed in my 30s that I am a minimalist. Turns out I started piling up media like I did in high school again.

The world just sucks and it's a refuge.
I go to bed at night and think about time travelling back to when music tv vidya and film all felt special, hell even the internet. I'm just trying to feel alive again because culture is dead.

I like digipaks, at least the quality multi-panel ones with booklets etc, but they're too fucking delicate. it's even hard to receive cds in pristine condition when you buy them online.

after a whole life as a CDfag I started to buy vinyl in the last couple of years because in many cases the cd is out of print, but the vinyl version is easily available.
I don't even own a turntable, but the large artwork is cool.
>>
>>124380688
you're right, they're technically deathgrind
>>
>>124386410
I noticed that at the music stores. CDs are scarce but the vinyls are all there. They look very cool and big, but I can't justify the BD-tier price of them yet.
Maybe when my dogecoin hit hard, I will also get my absolute favourite ones on vinyl too. Like going from BD to 4K.

a lot of CDs have gone out of print in the last 5 or so years, even incredibly popular albums, I'm not talking about niche stuff. Sometimes a more recent vinyl reissue is available, so it's the only option if you want to own an album and you don't want to resort to the second hand market (where the prices have skyrocketed due to the out of print status)

>out of print
>look on ebay for a very common, regular release back in the day of Soilwork
>not even special edition
>"rare"
>£40 for the CD
Looks like this is true. I should make haste and hoard my favourites..

>no multitasking, no YouTube
>just the music, the artwork, the feelings and memories
This is refreshing. Made me remember why music is great.

old second hand CDs that used to sell for literally peanuts 10 years ago in thrift stores because of how widespread they were are now 20 bucks minimum, since they've gone out of print in the meanwhile.
many albums are now only available in those cheap 5-disc box sets with names such "original album series" or "original album classics", but they're so basic that many people still search for the old stand alone CDs. Sometimes the 5 albums even feel randomly chosen, they don't even represent a continuum or a band's era in full, especially for artists with large discographies.

covid lockdown made me fully regress. i've chilled a bit on collecting vinyl cause prices are insane but i got back into buying physical vidya and am so tempted to collecting CDs again. been able to limit it to just j-pop shit for now
