King Ernest (Ernest Baker, 1939-2000) was a blues/soul/R&B singer from Natchez, Mississippi. His early career was short on blues, heavy on soul and funk (60s-70s) as he worked clubs in Chicago, New York, Chicago again. Seduced by LA in 1980, his inability to sign a record deal led him to work for the Sheriffs department for 14 years. He had a productive blues career after retirement, but brief. He recorded two albums in 1997 and 2000, the latter finished days before his death in a car accident.
