>>124437038What's your problem?
>>124436192There probably wasn't because that style of buffoonery became ridiculous after the 90sAxl Rose was quite a fiery frontman, tho, if by frontman we mean someone who can engage with the public, create atmosphere, while doing a decent performance too>>124437026Those were good singers and had some stage presence but most of them did not engage with the public much.Staley just sat in one spot and sang, which was already very difficult.Cobain was both singing in a very destructive way (screaming his lungs out) while having to sync with the guitar. Cornell was also doing both. But occasionally talking to the public.Weiland was maybe the only one who tried to do more, with a stage outfit and some stage moves, though frankly it looked kinda gayYea so I don't miss that kind of 'frontman' shit in live performances.Axl and Bruce Dickinson were doing it ok, tho
>>124437111>Cobain was both singing in a very destructive way (screaming his lungs out)I don't get people saying this. It never sounded to me like he was doing it wrong.
>>124436232dave isnt about the singing, he's about confidence and charisma.
>>124437176No actually when the band got noticed first in the underground scene, they were impressed with his voice. So at least early in their fame phase, 91-92, his voice was very impressive. But as he said, he wished he didn't have to go out every show and spit his lungs out, unlike Bob Dylan who had that wheezing style of singing, which was much more self-forgiving.Cobain's vocal style caused him constant laryngitis, basically after a number of songs, his voice was destroyed. So eventually he lost it in that last show in 1994. And a doctor told him he couldn't sing like that anymore. That's why I said destructive, nobody could keep that style of singing for 10 years

>>124436192Well, the last rock band had an excellent frontman, though not as good as David.
>>124437111>buffoonery
>>124437026only one of those is even a real frontman, and it's the guy from the worst band (stp)though he was a great frontman

Most recent? Kevin Parker of Tame Impala. The last true rock star.
Vince Neil
>>124441275>stp>worst bandi'd like to know why you think they were the worst band. for my money, there was no one better than stp. by the time their third album came about, scott and co were at their absolute best.

>>124443742to me, just my opinion, they have always sounded like an amalgamation of all the best bits of grunge and other rock music that was good at that time ---- which is an amazing fucking skill, don't get me wrong, but I could never get past that feeling.I thought Weiland was a classic 1970's style frontman and great vocalist, and the band was great but it was just that one specific thing.I still listen to them more than AiC and myabe more than Soundgarden, too.so when I said "worst" it sounded like a put-down but I didn't really mean it that way I could have worded it better
