Where to get started with death metal? I listened to a few metalcore, deathcore, and melodic death metal bands and now am trying to get into the real thing. Starting with old school death metal and slowly working my way through different bands.

Listen to Death - Leprosy, Carcass - Necroticism / Descanting something, and also Pestilence - Consuming Impulse and see how you like those and work your way from there.

If it relies heavily on double bass or is over produced, it takes away from the music for me.
