Generally regarded as a disappointment, this difficult third full-length album nevertheless went platinum in the US. The songs were overly long and ultimately forgettable.Best track: 'Grind' - a flickering reminder of former glories.
I dunno man this is my favorite AiC record. It has a sense of direction and creativity that I feel is hard to replicate. Songs are a bit odd and structured inorganically but overall the vibe is super cohesive. Sludge Factory is probably my pick for best track.
>>124443682every song is good
It was my favorite AIC album
>>124444337Nothin' Song
A masterpiece of an album with Alice In Chains flexing their strength as a band now with two songwriters. The production is abrasive and dark, living up to the gloomy visuals. Mike Inez is geat, even if his predecessor was more present in the sound. Layne brings his all and pulls aic even further into the darkness. Sean Kinney is more subdued than previous releases, but still strong. Jerry plays up a storm while also showing his softer side. It's just aahame there were only a handful of shows during this era.
>>124443682It's a pretty good album. I could even say that AIC did absolutely nothing wrong.
>>124443682It went double platinum.
Good. But shit cover art, wtf.
>>124451876i've seen worse but it is strange for a self-titled album. probably should have been a band pic or logo
>>124451876i just realized the 3 legged dog might signify that it's the 3rd album. either that or i put more thought into it than they did
>>124451965It was just a dog that they thought looked cool enough to put on the cover. I don't see what's wrong with the cover art, to me it matches the dark and ominous feel that the music gives off. It's a much better album cover than Dirt, which looks like it was lazily put together in Photoshop.
>>124451876This is one of the hardest hitting cover arts ever
their unplugged album is the BEST unplugged album of all time.also their best albums were the EPs, Jar of Flies and Sap.
>>124452608Jar of Flies, yes. Sap, no, as much as I like Am I Inside.
>>124451984One of grunge's most desolate and mean-spirited offerings. 'Dirt' lyrically took us on much the same journey as Nine Inch Nails's 'The Downward Spiral' would two years later. Again starting out with an ass-whupper of a track in 'Them Bones', 'Dirt' then plumbed the nightmarish depths of a heroin addiction through career-best songs like 'Would?' and 'God Smack'.Best track: 'Dam That River'.
>>124453316Bot post. Or wannabe journalist.
>>124453316Also, the title track is the "best" track, and Rooster should replace 'Godsmack'.
>>124443682Good album, Over Now is their most underrated song
>>124453462I flip flop between Would? and Down in a Hole as my favorite in that album
>>124453537Yeah. It's: Down In A Hole, Dirt, Rooster, and Sickman for me. Would? is also a great song.
>>124452608The title came from a dream drummer Sean Kinney had, in which he announced that the band's new acoustic EP would be called 'Sap'. This acoustic four-tracker was deemed a tad out-there for release in Europe, but sold well in the US. The music remained bleak and bruised.Best rack: Brooting opener 'Brother'.Released in the UK as a double-pack CD with 'Sap', the second installment of Alice's acoustic adventures highlighted a growing depth and maturity to their songwriting. The title came from an experiment Cantrell carried out in high school involving two jars filled with flies: one with food in it, the other without. The flies deprived of food ate each other.Best track: The haunting 'Nutshell'.
