I'm not an electrical engineer, but on the face of it, I don't understand what's bad about PCB. Even moreso with non-tube amps and other gear.
>>
>>124446031
The old and new versions of the pedal dont sound the same. Its a matter or preference. But the old version will cost more because of supply and demand. And because this was a cost cutting measure, a lot of peoples natural instincts is to assume theyre getting a worse product.

The fact is youre only getting a slightly different product. But if youre a pedal autist youll likely shill out the money and podsibly feel a deep need to validate your spending.

Honestly if you can afford expensive gear go for it, buy what you can afford / prefer. But for people whos funds are tighter they dont need to be shamed for choosing a comparable option for considerably less money.

But also this general thinks its funny to equate wealth to racial purity, iq, and skill. Which is funny considering much of electric guitar music traces its roots back to blues which primarily came from a lot of poor black people.

A lot of people right now are probably thinking but american (white) made instruments are higher quality! Well when import asian and mexican instruments we are literally doing so just to save on labor costs. Why make a higher quality instrument outside of america; that would defeat the purpose.

Another point id like to add aboust splurging on gear is, eventually with all types of gear you get diminishing returns. The quality can only get so high and it becomes a struggle after a certain point to make a higher quality instrument.
>>
>>124445083
Tbh reminds me of the mini strats. Which i always thought was dumb like, invent a new model with its own identity, this shit fucks with my tism. Because it almost looks like a 335 but not quite so its uncanny.

Do not like.
>>
>>124446200
I'd happily a Mexican made guitar, so long as the materials are good. That's the main kicker. Construction wise, they've been at it so long they know what they're doing very well. Same with Japan. And now Korea. One of these days, the cheaper places companies use now (Indonesia, Vietnam, etc) will get on the level of Korea too.
>>
How does every here feel about dedicated student models as opposed to making cheaper versions of the same models for beginners (and the economically less fortunate)

Personally im glad this shit was abandoned because i think its autistic to lock certain designs behind paywall thresh holds. Granted we did get the lpj and stuff like that out of this but at the same time those had every right to be their own high quality instruments crafted with as much love and care
>>
Gibson QC issues in currentyear, fact or fiction? If fact, which brand will offer similar sound and neck feel to the Gibson solidbodies?
>>
>>124446259
Heritage, Collings, and yes, PRS
(McCarty) to name a few... and you're still going to pay up the ass either way.
>>
>>124446259
>>124446271
You could also buy an older gibson from before the qc issues were a thing.

You dont have to buy brand new
>>
>>124446295
True.
Brand new, Heritage is the most affordable of the bunch.. and the only guys who are allowed to make an exact LP shape afaik. Good thing about Gibson is you can test them in just about any city.
>>
>>124446295
I am more likely to do this. I was looking for something in the Les Paul Studio pricerange, being a beginner relearning the little I could do over a decade ago, paying double that for a McCarty is a bit of a diamonds before swine sitch. I can probably cough up the cash, but will I rrally be able to appreciate it?

Heritage got bought out in 2016, Anon. The Heritage guitars made in the last decade are nothing like the guitars the company used to make.
>>124452954
I didn't know it was a Chinese company that bought them. Sadly the first thing the new owners did was fire all the former employees and replace them with Mexicans. Of course it was a chink company that did it.
>>
>>124453050

>>
>>124452954
Changing ownership is not the day to day workers. You're not stupid. Stop pretending to be.
It's just not how life works in any factory town. Whatever they're making. Maybe you're not American yourself if I have to tell you this. There's all kinds of people who work and live there that live and breath those guitars or were related to old Gibson families and decided to carry the torch themselves. You see it moreso in a true family owned company town like with Martin, where every other person is distantly related or some shit..but there was enough going in Kalamazoo for awhile...which is why they formed Heritage in the first place and didn't want to move.
>>

>>124453077
>changing ownership is not day to day workers
I grew up in factories and so did my families. even if you don’t directly replace the workers, the owner and management (nepo hires) has their fingers in all of the pies. first it starts with buying cheap and shitty raw materials, then the machines and tooling wear out and fall apart, then you’re demoralized to the point where you don’t care about the product because every form of red tape stands between you and doing a good job. if you have any self respect you leave of your own free will before you make garbage products

You're all too stupid to post online. You can't handle it, your brains are too small. I'd call you idiots but that would be doing a disservice to idiots around the world. You're below idiots somehow, frankly it's unbelievable. It's absolutely true though.

you can also use food grade mineral oil which should be the same thing. some people mix 3:1 oil to beeswax for a little bit longer lasting application

You sound miserable and the least fun person imaginable. Music is not only a profession. If it was just for professionals, nobody would make any instruments. They couldn't survive off of only building pianos and guitars for pros.
If any of you fell for some rockstar meme, you're victims in your own way. Music is no different than cooking. Not everyone is a world class chef, but just about everyone cooks. It's just something humans have been doing one way or another for thousands of years. Absolutely nobody gave a shit about things like a recording industry or your stupid ass rockstar dreams until decades ago. You built your whole worldview around things that have barely existed.

I am winding down and will eventually quit playing bass altogether. I have been practicing guitar for a few months now and am close to what I really want to do which is just play singer/songwriter stuff on acoustic by myself
>>
The truth is, making it is kinda luck based. You can improve your chances by opting to join bands thst look like theyre going places. The better you can play and the more instruments you can play the more likely theyll let you in. But you still gotta keep moving up, playing all the time, playing venues people give a shit about, and hope to god a music producer or a record label catches wind of you. And even then they have to like what they see. You have to look put together -- you have to have the look. You have to be markettable. Because for them its a business.

So your band needs a charismatic preferably attractive frontman and you also either need to invent a new sound that people are looking for, or ride the hype wave for whatever is happening right now. If you want the best chances to get noticed by a label.

But whats the point of that? Now you can play trendy music in a stadium with a band of accquaintances amd a record label cam take 90 percent of your money anyway and shelve your band when your sophmore album doesnt meet sales expectations

Is it worth it? You spent all day every day touring making creatively compromised music with people who are nothing more than coworkers to you, to still make less than 6 figures a year.

it’s not a wrong way. if you would eventually like to play jazz and become really strong in position 1 (sight reading) and using open strings, it’s a very good method. really depends on your goals. What I'd like to know is why don't they design guitars better for sitting down, especially the jack coming out the side. 99% of all guitar playing is done sitting down so you think they'd go out of their way to make one that's configured for sitting down. Fender sort of does this, at least with their jack placement on strats and Ps.

They're fine guitars that are usually better than MIM and sometimes are better than MIA. It depends on the model. I have a japanese mustang that is almost as good as my MIA tele but not quite as good as my MIA strat.

If you can, try to play the guitar first to check it out. But the japanese stuff(especially slightly older models) are a great value. If you're looking at MIM fender, for about the same money you can get a way better guitar from japan. They're just not stocked at stores and importing is a headache, but it's worth it.

That's how you play classical guitar. My old teacher had the footrest and everything. It's great, but not extremely practical for the real world.

You just move the jack to the side? I've never had a problem with it. I don't like how les pauls sit in the lap, they feel too low and I always find myself slouching. 335s and strats are fine. I wish the tummy cut came standard on teles. Forget playing a flying v or explorer sitting.

Just a typical factory guitar with a bit better workmanship and materials. A step above Mexican guitars (which is why the vintera was disappointing). the USA guitars are still better even though gibson and fender quality is in the shitter atm

things are a little different when you get into custom shop territory. for fender, nothing is really different between their custom shops and vintage reissue series except for the finish/relic and a few more eyes on it during assembly. same for Gibson except they will do extra things like long neck tenon, hand wound pickups, different bridge posts etc etc. Most Japanese custom shop instruments are hand built by a small team and rarely a single or a few individual and are more expensive from the beginning. you can pay a lot extra and get a masterbuilt or team built instrument from the USA factory builders. Japan custom shop is directly inbetween USA custom shop strata with the top tier Japan custom shop instruments being priced around boutique USA builders with similar materials and methodologies

Its fine, do 3 notes per string for finger strength and flexibility though.

no one really does this for bass. stretching from the 3rd to the 5th in the first position is really more than substantial for flexibility and strength on bass

that’s about the only way you can play those things. cant imagine having a Jackson where the angles are worse
>>
is there a bigger milestone than getting your bar chord transitions up to working tempo? so many songs I want to play that go to a minor 6th, now I can play them

>youll miss the bass when its gone
>mfw it actually sounds better without bass

How do bassists cope with this
>>
>>124464865
metal is literally a cherry picked example but you would definitely miss it in a live setting or with a good sound system. it hits you in the chest and gives a 3rd dimension to a good song
