>>124448129I get why they were so successful. I also get why they fell off so hard. Between the aweful album covers, Staphs insistence on sticking to his odd voice as hard as he does, and the occassional cringe lyric, I'm not at all surprised they fell off
>>124448129Post grunge is something I'll never understand because it tries to be two oppositional things. It wants to be "big" and "stadium" like hair metal, but it also wants to be "emo" and "introspective" like grunge, seems like it only pleases music fans who don't know other either thing exists.

>>124452846surely it's nostalgic millennials
>>124448235they will never recover
>>124448129If you remove the vocals maybe, but with the yarl buttrock singing, it's still shit
>>124457116Millennials like The White Stripes because it was good, zoomers like Creed because they werent alive at the time to know the good from bad but the bad is more memed thus more "nostalgic"
>>124448129Creed's got some okay songsBut if you like em just listen to Alter BridgeLiterally just Creed with a different singer
Creed is a fun band. They put on a good show, they made good songs before they broke up, Weathered is a pretty alright album. Human Clay on the other hand is a waste of time. Higher, and What If are the only good tracks, the rest of that hour would be better spend on other music. I'd also say Breaking Benjamin>Nickelback>Three Doors Down>Creed, Buttrock is not the best genre in the world but the hate it gets from soillenials is completely undeserved. Way better than the bitch rock they made in the early 2010s
>>124457380Tremonti solo albums are also decent
>>124457022I find Alter Bridge kinda mid besides Metalingus and Blackbird, their new albums are more prog and interesting but most of their early stuff sounds very samey
>>124458017>Way better than the bitch rock they made in the early 2010sWe don't talk about that anymore m8 it's been memoryholed.
>>124458017Why do zoomers need things to like that exist when they were young>I HATE GOOD ROCK, ITS TOO OLD, OR TOO UNKNOWN BUT NEW AND SOUNDS LIKE OLD>I LIKE SHITTY 00S ROCKSo cringe, your generation doesnt matter, stop acting like it does by trying to latch onto Millennial shit because you were five when it came out, its not your generation anyway

>>124448129I can tell you’re a zoomer posting shit like this. But it saddens me. Has music really gone so dull, trite and bad that Creed is now looked upon as good?
Creed is based.Limp Bizkit is based.Cuckllennials have shit taste.
>>124452860No Nickelback was good in a good time for music, they were so good that they tore through the charts in a way no real rock band did since except Arctic Monkeys but that was after people had bad taste
>willfully subjecting yourself to the worst butt rock has to offeri was prime age for this shit back when it came out and I have been cringing at this whole sound and genre for all this time, it was never good, fuck zoomers
>>124453766If we're counting Creed and Pearl Jam and Stone Temple Pilots as post grunge, then it's just the latest wave of regular ass rocknroll with a slight influence from Nirvana.
>>124458582Mental illness in the wild
>>124460632Why not fuck Gen Xers and Millennials for making them popular in the first place? You had different taste and still do, get over it bitch.
>>124460642Even grunge isn't a real subgenre, if Nirvana, AiC and Soundgarden weren't all from Seattle and in the same record label nobody would lump them together, they'd just be "alt rock."
>>124460723Kinda true. Nirvana is probably the most reliable arbiter of the term grunge and they definitely sounded different, different enough to be a distinct subgenre from the pre-80s hard rock. Alot of it only stood out in contrast to the 80s rock but was really nothing new. Soundgarden was straight up Led Zeppelin worship before Nevermind, then after Nevermind they shifted to sound more like Nirvana but moreso than Pearl Jam Creed and STP in the sense I would more easily call it grunge. AiC started out as a GnR-like and then before Nevermind they became a grunge version of GnR and they're like a halfway between them and Nirvana.I think the best definition of post-grunge is its proximity to Foo Fighters. Like Everlong is the definition you could point to for what post grunge is, and Creed rests somewhere in between "true grunge" and that.
>>124460879pretty fucking accurate
>>124448129True.
>>124448129never understood the excessive hate for this band
>>124460723Grunge was probably more of a subculture than it was a distinct musical subgenre.

>>124448235FPBP
>>124471028Agreed except sg is very obviously Led Zeppelin of the 90s, and Everlong is very obviously post grunge, although the song i would point to a quintessential post-grunge would be Shine.
>>124448129No it’s not it sucks and you’re just caught up in the post irony circlejerk because you are low iq. Mid guitar riffs, cheesy lyrics, and boring derivative af vocals. Kys zoom zoom.

>>124448235Kek
>>124471079>sg is very obviously Led Zeppelin of the 90sSoundgarden is the Soundgarden of the 90s.>and Everlong is very obviously post grungeYes, but not the most obvious example of post grunge nor reflective of the typical post grunge sound or lyrics, which are riffy power chords and lyrics from the me/you perspective and clearly dumbed-down from grunge in general.
>>124471191>which are riffy power chords and lyrics from the me/you perspective and clearly dumbed-down from grunge in generalThat's not the defining aspect of Post-Grunge. Listen to first wave Post-Grunge like Fuel, Filter, Bush, Local H, Candlebox, Silverchair, Toadies, Sponge and Days Of The New. They sound nothing like Creed, Puddle of Mudd, Seether, Shinedown, Staind, Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin and all the other second wave Post-Grunge bands.
>>124471244First wave was very clearly inspired by specific grunge bands and because of that, there's barely any difference in song writing from grunge. You can only hear the difference if you know that they all released albums after 1993 when grunge had already hit it big.
>We don't, you fucking dumbass moron cunt. Exactly most people don't which proves it's a pointless label since those bands sound more similar to each other than to "real grunge" bands.>It is you tone deaf fuck.Only if you find a way to categorize it consistently.>Wrong. They were a blend of post punk and hard rock.Lmao proving my point by appealing to another non-genre post punk the favorite catch all term for music that made college rockers feel special and alt trying to connect wildly unrelated music like Talking Heads to muh punk rock MUH SOCIAL MOVEMENT BRUH. You'd have an easier time arguing Soundgarden was Led Zeppelin worship with a little bit of punk influence, not "post-punk." >Wrong again you fucking poof.Care to give any arguments ITT?>Fucking zoomers in this threadLmao the mindbreaking never ends
>>124448129It's the same people that say that Nickelback is bad. NPC retards that can't think for themselves.
>>124471191>Soundgarden was the Soundgarden of the 90sAlright glad we've got that cleared up, so is Creed the Creed of the 90s.>riffy power chords and lyrics from the me/you perspectiveNigga these both applies to Everlong >clearly dumbed-down from grunge in general.I mean grunge purists SAY this but it's not like the genre was some shining beacon of complexity, I could show you plenty of examples of post grunge more complex than anything Nirvana ever did. So do they get "elevated" to True Grunge?
