Used to be a Black Veil Brides fan in middle school. I got into music because of metalcore. Then I renounced the genre when I discovered TOOL, Mastodon, Pantera, Helmet and Neurosis. Now I went back to occasionally listening to Black Veil Brides, and got into metalcore again when I discovered Unleash The Archers. You will circle back. That nostalgic feeling will come to you again.

I hope so, anon. The Beatles are an amazing band.

Now you know that even the best of popular music is just disposable slop for the masses.
Look for Bach or Beethoven if you want to find music to listen for the rest of your life.

For me it's some of the bands you listed. TOOL especially. I don't know wtf happened. I was obsessed for like twenty years, went to multiple shows, one of my favorites. Then my mom was listening to them one day after I hadn't revisited them for a few years and it sounded so whiny, pretentious, and angsty to me. I just sat there flabbergasted for like a half an hour. Maybe I'll come around a bit with some Nostalgia but it's been years now of very very little music with any real angst. Maybe it's just getting older.

Same with Tool. Got into APC and Puscifer around the same time, love/loved that band, but now when I listen to them it sounds more like the soundtrack to another decade, like the relic of another age. Which it is, but it feels like it has no bearing on my life right now at all. I can still appreciate the memories that it conjures up.

Same happened to me, also with lots of boomer rock bands from 60, 70 and 80s. I guess I simply matured
