>Never Say Die! is the 8th studio album by English heavy metal band Black Sabbath, released on Vertigo Records September 29, 1978. It is the last album featuring the original lineup and the end of the Ozzy Osbourne era.

ah yes, the regrettable period when they were putting synths on their albums and Iommi started wearing disco clothes
>>
Black Sabbath can Triforce, confirmed
>>
>>124453851
I've voluntarily endured every Tony Martin era album but still have never bothered checking this one out
>>
>The group parted ways with Osbourne in summer '79. Iommi said of his departure. "We had an idea of what direction we wanted to go in but [Ozzy] was out of it, he just couldn't wrap his head around the thing."[3]
>>
Title track, although GOAT, sounds like a second rate rip off of Thin Lizzy's The Boys Are back In Town.
Johnny Blade is more than worth the price of admission, though.
>And Technical Ecstasy is still a better album!
>>
>>124454623
It's worth it for Johnny Blade, Junior's Eye, and Swinging the Chain
>>
>>124453851
i love their entire discography but this is the only one i don't like

>Title track, although GOAT, sounds like a second rate rip off of Thin Lizzy's The Boys Are back In Town.

i never realized that before. i agree.

The split was a good thing.

Hard Road is the purest kino sabbath ever released and i'll die on this hill

SHIT ON THIS ALBUM
>>
>>124454657
Considering they all went to make great/decent stuff after splitting, I'd say this was a good decision.
>>
>>124456703
Johnny Blade is cool. We're only missing the accompany 70s cartoon to go with it.
>>
its not that bad
>>
>>124453851
I love the intro of Air Dance. Rest of the song is mediocre though.
>>
>>124454657
in other words they wanted to do NWOBM material and Ozzy was not able to sing that stuff
>>

metal mitosis often is

Spotify threw on "Never Say Die" after I was listening to "Gypsy" last night. Pretty good song. I've always avoided this album, though.
>>
>>124456703
Over To You to Breakout to Swinging the Chain, yeah i'm thinkin based
>>
>>124460251
It's the best song on the album together with the title track. Great great song.
>>
I never understood the acclaim for the title track on this one. It's alright but I usually skip it when I play the album since it's right at the beginning
>>
>>124454623
it's a decent hard rock album.
>>
>>124453851
Junior's Eyes is the best track
Also Shock Wave
>>
A Hard Road is so underrated. Very AC/DCish, but still retaining that Sabbath sound. Whole album while a step down from the first 6 is still a solid output worth a listen.
>>
>>124458901
It and Technical Ecstasy is the sound of Sabbath dying
>>
>>124454657
did Ozzy even have a direction? he ammitedly closed himself in an hotel room to get fucked up and when they pulled him out of there they wrote everything for him
>>124470646
the only way to go after Sabotage was down
>>
>>124470730
>did Ozzy even have a direction? he ammitedly closed himself in an hotel room to get fucked up and when they pulled him out of there they wrote everything for him

No, he was never a writer, never really did anything creatively. He just had a good voice that gelled with sabbath nicely...and good stage presence.

But in every band he's been in, he's been carried.
>>
>>124470834
I guess it was just Randy's time
>>
>>124470883
Hey, I'm not saying it to slight Ozzy. He's one of my all time fav's, but it's pretty well documented. Pretty much every band member he's been with has said the same thing. Ozzy himself has stated he can't write a lyric to save his life, part of it's due to his dyslexia.

Randy was great, but the first few albums were the masterpiece of Bob Daisley. He was the creative force in that band.

You're coming home again tomorrow
I'm sorry it won't be for long
With all the pain I've watched you live within
I'll try my hardest not to cry when it is time to say goodbye

Absolutely based
>>
>>124456703
Came here to say this. Johnny Blade is awesome
>>124456773
I’ll take NSD any day over technical ecstasy
>>
>>124470646
Even a dying Sabbath is still great though
>>
>>124453877
They're oldfags, what did you expect?
>>
>>124472202
That song is about his dad.
>>
>>124474842
I agree with you on Johnny Blade, but I still think Technical Ecstasy is a better album IMHO.
