>Alternative radio station >It's just pop punk and 90s/2000s grunge/post grunge, don't even play indie pop/indie folk anymore>Only Weezer songs are post-PinkertonWhat happened to radio?
Zoomers
>>124461523>What happened to radio?People use streaming services to listen to whatever they want, radio has become obsolete unfortunately.
>>124461523Is that a scene from Crash? Does she have a thigh-wound gash?
>>124461591Alt radio needs to be playing shit like Warm Leatherettehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5QErPDNcj4
>>124461523Who is this semen demon?
>>124461523The radio companies that own those shitty Alt stations are asking the same questions. In fact, most want you to stop listening to their terrestrial product and start listening to their online product: it’s cheaper for the company and isn’t as regulated by the government. The commercial operators would love to shut down their towers and go fully digital. The only Alt acts that test well are the old 90’s ones. Alternative has split into so many different sub genres that there’s no way to get a big enough consensus to sell to advertisers with new material. I’ll be blunt. If you’re listening to a commercial station of any kind with 5+ minute stop sets, you are a lowest common denominator moron. At least have some dignity and find a college station. Try searching under 92.0 FM on the dial.
>>124461523Radio stations still exist? This is news to me. I figured it was all just static.
>>124461646unironically kys
>>124461523try out online radio like brainrot radio and dork radio
>>124461812I second this.Don't complain there's no good music out there. It means you haven't found it yet.No one's going to help you find good music, who doesn't actually know the kind of music you already like.I remember when Pandora got big.It wasn't very big for long.Because it used a taxonomic, content-based recommender system, that actually didn't introduce much variety into listening. These ought to be the communities where people actually find out "what happened to radio," and also figure out a decent solution.E.g., college radio.Scouring for obscure albums somewhere if that's your jam.It was mine.Asking others. Etc.
>>124461523Millenials outnumber zoomers, who don't even know radio exists anyway. Simple as
>>124461536You niggers ripped it to shreds before we had a chance. Thanks for unleashing Future and Playboi Carti on us. Fucking faggots.
>>124465999Hey, you see this guy? He's fucking retarded as hell.He thinks the Zoomers are just one guy who did everything bad. That probably means he actually hasn't given himself much time to think about, well, anything at all.Because he's been a retard on the internet most of his life.Don't engage him.Ignore him so he remembers that outside is a place!
>>124461523There is literally no reason to listen to the radio anymore. Everyone has a phone that can stream any song they want, anytime. Any car made past 2000 can connect to blue tooth or aux cord, and those little cassette to phone adapters exist.
>>124461523It the grand scheme of things the hipster and indie shit was too self-aware and pretentious when all the real bangers with energy were more rock.I love how pitchfork used to shit on all the pop-punk and emo bands of the mid-2000's too.>Indie folkLimp wristed snoozewave with 0 test
>>124466279I remember the year 2011.I was like 13, so grain of salt. But it was my favorite year for radio indie pop."Somebody that I Used to Know" was actually a good song.Haven't explored Gotye's discog, but I've heard it's pretty good! But yeah, the "irony" got old fast.like the band, fun.Period included.By 2013, you've got a lot of the big, glossy, loud pop singles.Probably a reaction to the boredom at "indie pop" on the radio. That said, it was an interesting moment for pop radio. Two indie songs on the Billboard Top 10 that were both a lot better than anything by Imagine Dragons.
>>124465999>Thanks for unleashing Future and Playboi Carti on us.You're welcome for introducing you to two artists as great as they are.
>>124466463Not a Future fan.But Playboi Carti bumps. :)
>>124461523>What happened to radio? If you are under the age of 60 and actively listen to the radio, you're fucking retarded. Why would you inflict such misery on yourself when you can choose exactly what you want to hear when you want to hear it and not be bombarded with shitty ads for things you don't want?
>>124461523>WeezerTHROW YOURSELF OFF THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE
>>124466843I listen to classical on radio from time to time. Last week they had an early music vocal ensamble live. The interview was very interesting, the music was nice.
>>124466843Listening radio teaches you to make do with what you have
>>124466463>>124466494Thanks for the admission of guilt
>>124466303Just think about the pipeline from mac demarco all the way to cuco/ banes world/ still woozy 2017 bedroom indie pop shit. In a way demarco really did fuck up a lot of things with that 'Chill' vibe you know. Like they have emo nights right now where you can get wasted as fuck and sing along to the classics that actually had energy behind them.Imagine a bedroom pop indie night yeah fuck all that. SNOOZEWAVE. While were at it wake me up when grunge comes back.
