Does anyone know why the UK Singles chart is so much better than than the Hot 100? I swear every time I look up a song I like chart performance, it's usually high up on the UK singles list. While it's listing on the Hot 100 is usually low or not existent. What makes the UK's musical taste that much better than the US? I wonder if their rock bands being much better than ours is related to this.
Motorhead had 6 top 40 hits on the UK sinlgles charts, and 10 others still in the top 100. That automatically makes their average listeners better. I can't imagine a song like Overkill ever charting in the US top 40.
>look up UK singles chart >#1 is Gracie Abrams with “that astroturfed tiktok song”>most of the top 50 is just American pop in a slightly different order than BillboardYeah, I don’t think you should be talking shit about anybody lol
>>124469459That bitch will probably top the charts in a few months from now what does it matter lol. Also charts now in both countries are fucking garbage. Not comparable at all
>>124469459In general the better songs are on top though. Also with the globalization thanks to the internet the effect might not be as pronounced now.
>>124469338sometimes it's good, but the uk singles chart also had a lot of novelty stuff that would chart number 1 for many weeks, which is very embarassing
>>124469448Iron Maiden had 35 top 40 hits in the UK. That's crazy to fathom an an American.
>>124469459Based. They spent like the entire year sucking off Sabrina Carpenter in the UK and now we have to listen to them brag about their enlightened tastes? Gimme a break. They’re a bunch of marks.
Also three singles from OK Computer charted in the top ten of the UK's chart. While one charted the Billboard Radio list.Must be something in the water
>>124469496ok computer still sold 2 million copies on the usa thoughalbeit
OP here, i'm an American citizen although I wasn't born here. I've never been to the UK too, so i'm not bragging or w/e

Now that /mu/ has moved on from Radiohead, we agree that using them as an example of why a given singles chart might be better than any other given singles chart probably isn't the greatest idea.
