Is the drums. Guitarists think they get the shit end of the stick, but most rhythm sounds intentionally geared towards clubs or dance spaces. Even fucking country. With drums even more inorganic sounding than the 80s sound. 80s gets a lot of shit for that, but it's far worse now. Secondly, it's still not guitars. It's that almost every vocalist is hip or r&b influenced doing phrasing and vocal acrobatics you'd only expect from R Kelly or Mariah Carey 20 years ago.
The worst thing is all the singers doing that singing through the nose and slurring the words. It's forced feel and I fucking hate it. I instantly turn it off if I hear somebody doing that style of vocals. Fucking hate it.
>>124472257There's that too. I know what you mean. I don't even know what to call it.
>>124472263Not him, but I call it "honking"
>>124472271Is it some Rihanna copy thing?
As an aside, as someone who would *like* Christian music, I absolutely detest it because they follow these trends too.
>>124472283I have no idea, my personal theory is that these singers try to be as loud/noticeable/attention-getting as possible
>>124472297YES. How can they be truly set apart from the world if they sound just like them and follow all the same trends? I'm glad we still sing the old piano hymns at my church.
>>124472240There's a higher chance of me liking a song if it has a beefy funk snare instead of a weak trap clap. I'm not joking.>Captcha: MR DYK
>>124472576Man, I can NOT stand that ticky clicky trap "percussion" sound they put in music these days
Here's your rock vocalist bros. Even Ozzy gives him the thumbs up.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaD55NqPJA0
>>124472240Nobody really appreciates percussions. Or brass. Or woodwind.
>>124472240it was always that way it's just that in boomer times they followed a different R&B sound or dance rhythm
>>124472263>>124472271I call it forced-feel. It's sort of evolved from hipsters mispronouncing words on purpose to be different and quirky. This generation is trying to force "feel" into everything, so they sing in a way that sounds like they're hurt in some way.The forced-feel thing also goes into photos of people. Look at how many gen z take photos with their eyes closed making a "MMmmm" face. It's so fucking ridiculous and hyperbole. I hate it so much. It's like they know whatever they have is shitty and derivative, so they do everything they can to sort of "If I keep acting like it's great, then surely it'll be great".There's just a fucking fakeness about it I can't stand.
>>124472257>>124472263It's probably just pitch correction.
>>124472240>go to show in Vegas>drummer is in a plexiglass cagewtf is this shit
>>124476701Not at all, it's a singing technique that's been popular the last couple of years among younger people
>>124476851It's to control stage volume and mic bleed
>>124476851He’s just COVID-conscious
>>124476851its so he doesnt get assassinated
