It's true. I don't know if I can post my age.

It's not my favorite Pantera album but it's a very good album if that's the style you like.

>Power Metal
The sound of Texas/midwest up through Michigan heavy metal played by "rebel rouser" types with a propensity for committing small crimes but otherwise have a larger desire to just party

>Cowboys Frrom Hell
An extension of the above description but this time even moreso, so naturally the crimes and general mid-west scumbagginess of the outgoing heavy metal type will be higher. They, their fans and that culture in general weren't at points where their drug use and lifestyle was dangerous yet, but alarming none the less. *Note: the substance-abuse here is largely just alcohol but since I'm making generalizations about Pantera's following as a whole, I'm including non-band members (just fans as a whole) to help create the picture for you to imagine.

>Vulgar Display of Power
The above description x10 but much like many bands who produce great art while living recklessly, that's exactly what happens

>Far Beyond Driven
Things begin to get darker, arguably even more awesome, slightly less fun, more scumbaggy and now cocaine, heroin and meth are regularly and habitually used. This is the album that sounds like that

>The Great Southern Trendkill
Same as above but increase that description by about 60%

>Reinventing The Steel
The band, even Anselmo despite his battles with drugs, realizes how fortunate their lives are, feels grateful and thankful for it and decides to write a "fun" record people can party to.

There ya go.

Why is Pantera controversial?

Phil and others being vaguely racist and Darrell having a Dixie flag guitar. Big fucking deal, but that's what I've gathered.
