Traditional/trve/fat-chud-virgin-elitist metal can be actually pure fucking KINO
>>124831169They're not metal though. A lot punks back then dabbling in thrash.
I like the one where they break into the German national anthem.
>can beAlways has been the case.Traditions form for good reason, they work, they are what define a community or movement in the first place.True, or "trve" metal as a descriptor gets a little nebulous and memey, but it gets the point across that a band may superficially resemble metal, but not embody it. This is why metalcore sounds foreign no matter how much metal influence a given band employs.Elitism, when it's not about being a peacocking trve-kvlter (arguably just another kind of poserdom), really just means being pro-excellence and pro-advancement of the art form. Anti-"elitists" want mediocrity, stagnation, mass appeal, death.
>>124831450you fuckers hate pure kino like pic related,if your band doesn't have leather jackets with bullet belts, if your favorite band members doesn't look and smell like alcoholics hobos and just look like FUCKING NORMAL PEOPLE you will reject it even when the music they play is pure unadultered looking-forward metal and art
>>124831802Your knee jerk reaction and ranting about a band's image (AKA: putting aesthetics over substance) doesn't help your case.I like some Gojira, even some stuff on that album, but a lot of Gojira songs are chugfests. Odd-time chugs, but still chugs. A simplistic chug can have its place, but it's a poor substitute for riffs with melody. I'll listen to TWOAF later and see if it holds up like I remember it, but I wasn't impressed with From Mars to Sirius when I revisited it a month or so back, so I'm not optimistic.
