Molina edition

Welcome to /cmg/. The old thread >>127482936 was taken from us too soon, so I decided to bring it back rather than wait for Lostgrass Anon to do it himself. Decided to mostly leave the OP as he had it all the same.
https://voca.ro/1hlf5nBdqd2T

Please use this thread to discuss country music and all of its related genres, including bluegrass, jamgrass, outlaw country, Red Dirt country, country-rock, folk, alternative country, and many more.

YourLast.fmlistening charts are highly encouraged!

Feel free to drop any recommendations below, no matter the subgenre (but please do attach subgenres to it!). We are in the long and intermittent process of compiling updated recommendation charts, so your contributions will be very appreciated.

And I don't know what you been spinning anons, but you can't go wrong with Molina (RIP):

Twinkly garbage from the 70s and 80s is awful trash and the corny 90s shit is way better
>>
>>127493374
My knowledge of '70s and '80s country isn't what I'd like it to be, but I find '90s country, at least its most popular interactions, to be rather same. Every man sounds like George Strait.

Not that such is necessarily a bad thing, but there's more out there, and it deserves to flourish to show the world what the possibilities are:

I also want to get some insight from y'all about something.

I recently picked up a lot of stuff from thrift stores while traveling out west (US) and there's some interesting looking red dirt-ish country in there.

I started LostgrassArchive as a way for me to preserve all the bluegrass music I was finding here in Appalachia, but eventually I started including other sttuff, like that album by a Wisconsin band called The Hay Shakers.

Now, my question to anyone who cares:
Should I try to keep is mainly to albums from Appalachia (bluegrass, southern gospel, folk) or should I just start including all obscure country-adjacent music regardless of where it's from?

I like the idea of "grass" representing the lost "grassroots" rather than just pure "bluegrass". Not sure if I'm overthinking this or not, I just get really autistic about things and I care about preserving these obscure pieces of media.

Why don't /mu/ like us /cmg/??? :(
>>
>>127495353
We just need a concerted /cmg/ propaganda effort across all of /mu/ and 4chan as a whole. 4chan operates solely on psyops. Repeated viewing of something solidifies it in the viewers head.

We just havent been active enough in spreading the psyop. When I get home I will fix this Imgur link but anyone feel free to create posters here.

Good propaganda is typically square images with a universal truth in big text, shit like that. Idk I’m kinda fuckin baked beans right now.
>>
I will do my best to keep the thread alive. I figure if /mu/ can keep a lively classical thread, there's more than enough room for country.

I'm honestly glad we've cultivated such a good community of country loving motherfuckers here. There is no shame in loving country music and I think we're finally starting to turn the tides. I've always been a believer in "If you build it, they will come" and country music charts were almost nonexistent, and the ones that do exist sucked ass and were well over a decade old. So I figured why the hell not make some new ones and see if I can attract some likeminded people in here. And I'm glad that it happened because I'm thankful for all of you fuckers. Found a lot of good recs, learned a lot about the genre, and probably taught a little bit about the genre, and that makes me feel happy.

I appreciate the good discussion, but this was not what I was asking. I’m familiar with genre distinctions.

My question was whether or not LGA should remain a bluegrass archive, or if I should expand it to include other “grassroots” music (with grassroots music being a combination of the hyper-obscure and American roots music).

I don’t want to split my efforts in sourcing and archiving music between too many channels, ya know?

Improved vocals are the single biggest point of favor in him here. He sounds much more like a real singer on this track than he did on his big hit. Only twice did I count the really awkward squawk that was practically the hook of RMNoR.

I talk about bluegrass fairly often

I sure hope so. It'd be nice to see the business get turned on its head like that. Show the suits that music is still what really matters.

16 Horsepower are great, really liking picrel. I am also Wilcopilled, but I think a man has the potential to be both Gothic Countrypilled and Wilcopilled, the duality of man and so on

Billy Failing has a really good solo album. Not as good as Billy Strings records, since Failing isn't as good a singer, but it's worth checking out if you care about serious banjoing.

People like the OP of that thread really are retarded aren't they?
>>

He fits in the glory hole business

ive only heard two of those (sturgill simpson and wheeler walker) am i allowed to call myself a country music fan? which of these albums should i try?
>>
Bumping this thread to keep it in front of that gay ripoff version in the catalog
>>
The retard trying to splinter this thread doesn’t realize what kind of turbo autism he is matched up with.

I will go to war for /cmg/.

Top two rows are essential, the most popular and generally respected artists and albums in modern country. The rest is more or less for deeper digging.

Yes, another painfully mid album

Feels good to be in the real country music thread

He's hearkening back to an era in country was a singles game and every album was painfully mid. George Strait has dozens of stone cold classic tracks but going through his albums feels can be maddeningly repetitive.
>>
I’m just gonna say it

I can’t stand Zach top’s voice. At all.
>>
And I don’t like his gay mustache either
>>
Found a ton of good old country CDs lately. Can't wait to listen to them

Found a folk song "milk and honey" performed by Bonnie Dobson.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrIsUGURorg

It's a cover of this song by Jackson C. Frank, but with a little different arrangement:

Strangely, I found this because limp bizkit sampled it.

I listened to his '24 record just now. I liked what I heard. Not to mention all three of his records are of reasonable length. Morgan Wallen in particular could stand to learn from that.

Is country the most heterosexual music genre? Especially now that we know how gay rap is?
>>
>>127584606
Bland cowboy pop. Poor (and gay) man’s Chris Isaak.

This fat cow should be taken to the slaughterhouse for putting a drumkit in a novelty bluegrass cover:
