>Stripped of their pickguards and loaded with exotic tremolo systems and high-gain humbuckers, these guitars were made to be played loud and fast. Some were homemade parts Strats, hot-rodded in garages across America. Others were mass-produced impersonators. In 1988, Fender introduced the first model worthy of its headstock: the HM Strat.Wow what a fancy way of saying "we failed the consumer by refusing to offer humbuckers for decades, so they and the market went elsewhere to have their demands met"

kinda sad how no one makes guitar music anymore and when they do it's all impossible to learn 8 string djen/shred hybridmania because at this point that's all that gets people that still listen to guitar music in 2025 horny
>>127613060I just play fast power chords and pentatonic solos and don't care.
>>127612745He said the nigger word
>>127613060Your view of the musical zeitgeist is region-locked anon. South america and asia still have plenty of real guitar music. And even in America, Country exists and some of it is very guitar-centric
>>127613060Kinda sad how you're unable to find all the good new guitar music coming out

>>127613060I mean guitar is used a ton in contemporary music, it's role has just changed.Solos are kinda tired; they just aren't mainstream anymore.
>>127613179This is one of my favorite collections on gg (no homo)
>>127613060it's out there you just need to look. check out dangerous intentions (patterns) album, it's a little older but very good electro funk or whatever you want to call it. bryan sutton is still making some albums if you like bluegrass and is touring with billy strings atm.
>>127613127vkei is more of a aesthetic than a genre, any guitar could work. PATA has probably had a hundred guitars at this point.
Today I bought a used Marshall 20 watt Silver Jubilee head and an old Carvin solid state bass amp to destroy with feedback loops
>>127613385hell yeah
>>127613237Yeah, this is a slightly older pic. I put a little scratch on the logo decal when smoothing it out.. I’m going to let it slide for now but if I Bork it any further I’ll probably sand it down and start over. Luckily the entire neck had a satin finish so I didn’t have to sand much to lay down the vinyl sealer, so if I do have to start over there’s plenty to work with.
>>127613165I flipped the white one on Saturday, that pic was just taken before I flipped it>>127613179After you’re done with the headstock you’ve got to paint matching competition stripes on all of them like the compstang
>>127613385very nice choices. can we see them?
>>127613290Thanks man. I probably come off as a bit of a gear queer but I really only over indulge on instruments because the more I have the more I play. I am forcing myself to stop buying for a while and enjoy what I have, and record some of the music I’ve written since I started expanding the collection last year. Last year this time I had 5 guitars, now I have 15 not counting acoustics lol..
>>127613536I need to think about downsizing electrics, I don’t need as many as I have
>>127613536How many acoustics?
Post Malone is good and I'm tired of hating on him
>>127613543I'm moving to BOSS city.
>>127613493That sounds like a dangerous task as cool as it would look. I do want to experiment with refinishing poly but I’ll definitely be trying it on a Bullet Mustang when I do. I’m thinking I’ll take my old surf blue Bullet and paint it TV yellow with a matching headstock and comp stripe in black.

for the amount of people in /gg/ who complain about people having more than a couple of guitars there sure are a lot of people here with 10+ guitars.

>>127613727Dudes ugly but I have respect for him keeping guitar in the mainstreamAs far as pop goes his music isn't that bad either - formulaic but what pop music today isn't.
>>127613580Three currently, an old ass Yamaha FG-410 (my first guitar, pictured above), a black Yamaha FX-355C from the late aughts, and a budget Indian Yamaha I bought in Traverse City to help out a small music store that I leave at the cottage I have up there. I know, I should really factor in a good acoustic and have been wanting a 00-15 but I don’t play acoustic much and keeping getting distracted with fender offsets. I really should though, many of my first worthwhile songs were written on the abomination above.
>>127613741acoustisonic sounds like the guitar for you
Too much horror business
>>127613741I've been putting off buying a good acoustic for most of my life. I just don't play one enough and when I do, it's for camping and to the beach. Buying used electrics to unfuck is more fun anyway. Just get another fender, you know you want to.
>>127613741yes, a good acoustic will do you well
>>127613694poorfags gonna poorfag
>>127613741Me too. I’ve got an old Takamine and an even older dirt cheap garage sale fine Franciscan but even when I get the bug to buy something nice I never do. I like playing electric and for all of my acoustic needs those are fine. It’s hard to justify spending Martin money when I already hardly play my acoustics, but spending that same money on an electric isn’t that big of a deal to me because I play electric all the time

>>127613912Yep you’re not allowed to practice with you have more than the mandated amount of guitars.
>>127613101True, I wish there was a J-rock general here.
>>127613763I had one of the OG Stratacoustics back in the day. They’re just a bit too Inbetween for me. I haven’t played the modern ones but I really don’t care for the aesthetic. One thing I will give the old Stratacoustic is that the neck legitimately felt like a Strat neck, or at least a decent MIM Strat neck.

my friend you do not understand guitar, i play for 17 years (since age 12, i am 19 now). the tone is not from finger or amp, is from wood vibration. mahogany have the sustain like violin, alder is cheap because it float in water. if you want metal you must use floyd rose because it double note, is science. many people stupid think pedal do distortion but no, distortion come from string gauge, i use 13s in drop D# standard. learn from me, i play stairway intro PERFECT with only 2 fingers. also i invent technique called "reverse hammer pick", is faster than shred but you probably not ready for that yet.

On the topic of colors, Belair Blue would be perfect if the bottom was slightly less dark.
>>127614745jazz guitar is easy, my friend, you only need know secret chord. it is called “minor 7” once you play this, everybody say you sound like wes montgomery. important: never use pick, always finger because pick kill the jazz tone. also string must be flat wound .14 gauge or more, if not you cannot play real jazz. for amp, only use clean channel but turn bass full, treble off, mids half, this is official jazz setting. remember: in jazz there is no wrong note, only wrong player.

Survey time: what tonewoods do you have guitars made out of?
>>127619398That’s even more confusing. I have no idea what Canadian money was worth then. All I’m saying is they’ve actually gotten cheaper over the years. The main problem with the 2010 era is gibsons were selling like dogshit and they had to keep their prices low to meet low demand. After they fixed most of their QC issues the prices went back up but still not as much as they were in the 90s relatively.

>>127619423I mean yeah probably, that would definitely be a Gibson move, much like them "re-issuing" the RD with Custom Shop being the only option. I was just pointing out that base model studios were $1400 in 2010, the lower trim variants were certainly cheaper. They shouldn't be that much to begin with but a $300 increase over the course of 15 years isnt insane by any means.

>>127619516btw the $1600 studio is their cheapest model, others go up to 2000 or 2200, which used to be the price point of standards
>>127619551Walnut?
>>127619583Yeah you are 100% better off buying a used studio from the 90's if you're in the market for one. Granted I always advocate for buying used first whenever possible anyway.
>>127619605Why would I want a guitar made out of nuts smdh
At what point does a guitar stop being depreciated as old used good and starts gaining value as vintage good?
>>127619659The fewer number of people still alive that were born the year it was made = more valuable. We are the same distance today in 2025 to guitars made in 1995 as people in 1995 were to guitars made in 1965, yet guitars from the 1990s don’t have nearly the wow factor as ones from the 1960s. People say 25 years is vintage but nobody thinks do guitars from 2000 as vintage guitars.
>>127619693Will today's guitars ever be vintage?
one for the ibanez sisters
>>127619872in a couple hundred years definitely
>>127616562Once every couple of months I’ll carry them out to the air compressor and use a blower tip with regulator to dust them off and then give the finish a wipe down with a clean microfiber cloth

>>127619970something about this woman(?) looks so repulsive
>>127619693Because times are much faster nowadays. Although zoomers have discovered that era in fashion and music they won't buy some shitty guitars from that era. They probaby were either some edgy trash models aimed to schoolshooters or just vacuous versions of boomer guitars you already had 30 years earlier. Also guitar fags are the most reactionary people i know. No innovations are accepted so not even pioneering instruments in like the last 4 decades are as interesting as some plank of wood from the 50s.

>>127617566Nice anon. I’d prefer it with a rhythm circuit but it looks good. Not usually a fan of flame tops but it works for this one
>>127619980maybe this is more your speed
>>127620019Would've prefered the classic layout too but after i first saw that type of design on pic related 10 years ago i fell in love with that ocean look. The price was obviously out of reach.

>>127620231It looks even worse on acoustics as natural wooden colours are so dominant.
One of the acoustic solos of all time https://vocaroo.com/1bakIeqw6Gvn
for me, its the bucket les paul
>>127620317sounds like a strat more than an acoustic guitar
>>127620303I think the natural visually warmer woods (spruce, mahogany) are what look nicer with it, especially contrasting large, flat spruce tops. I don't like it on lectrics, esp. dark/cool colored ones
>>127620160>climaxes mutuallybeta activities
>>127620342Never been a fan of spruce's very light colour in general. Cedar looks so much better. Sad that you have no choice anyways.
>>127620334Erm it is a strat (kind of.) The original song is acoustic.
>>127620403love sitka spuceall light woods can be stained though, most violins have spruce tops despite being browns/reds

>>127620551just get any with a maple neckmahogany being soft is actually more of an issue than the headstock angle
>>127620558they'll care when boomers finally die and stop buying their retarded 50s designs
>>127620561I can't wait for boomers to die so I can pick up a 74 les paul custom (black or white) for $800
bit too much neck dive, but seating it's great
>>127620561
my custom guitar would be jaguar pick ups on a tele body, plus the deluxe control scheme with a 10-way blade switch just as an easier way to get all/most of the tones out of offset guitar
>>127620561Dudes like trogly spend $30k+ on pre-beat-to-shit "special edition reissues" all the time and it's weird hearing his justifications for their prices. The majority of their customers are boomers, sure, but young money is learning how to throw it away just the same.
>>127620465>all light woods can be stained thoughOf course but you can still see the cheap looking grain of the softwoods.

>>127620586Looks dope. Parts guitar?
Ohhh who'll love Aladdin Sane?
>>127620653"cheap looking wood"idk mang, super straight and tight grain spruce has always looked premium to me
>>127621231Everything cheap in construction is made with softwoods and that's the association i have with it. The grain of hardwoods looks more pleasant to my eye.
The guitar I ordered from EGA guitars from the Sweetwater Exchange still hasn't shipped. They printed the label on the 30th, but there's no been no movement and UPS hasn't scanned anything still as of today. I don't think I've been ripped off, maybe they're backed up from Labor Day. I hope someone didn't lose it. Guess I'll contact them tomorrow if they're been no movement.
>>127621276different strokes for different folks I guessbut the spruce you'd be using in construction is pretty low grade if you aren't using fir 90% of the time. quality spruce is generally for finish work only.
>>127621302>They printed the label on the 30thIt's been 2 business days since then lol just give them until Friday before shooting them an email.
>>127621349I just find it weird they printed the shipping label on the 30th and sent a email saying it's been shipped when it hasn't. I guess they're doing that to get around Sweetwater's refund policy? I think if it hasn't been processed as shipped within two days from purchase, Sweetwater automatically refunds you. I didn't know that until I read it earlier.
>>127621398Is this the first time you've ever bought something online?
>>127621398"shipped" when a label is created is a pretty common practice desu, despite being shittyI'd wait 1-2 more days then chimp out
>>127621398technically speaking today is the 2nd business day
>>127621398>this is your brain on amazog primo
>>127621398The 30th was a Saturday. UPS/USPS etc aren't open on Sunday or national holidays. That leaves yesterday and today to actually drop it off to be shipped. If the tracking # hasn't updated by friday, file a complaint or whatever the process is.
do zoomies/gen alpha really find average to below average women attractive or is it an incel/incredibly desperate /mu/ thing?>>127619386
>>127621414I've unironically worked in a shipping department before. You typically don't print the label off and then not ship it the same day. You print the label off the same day you hand it over to UPS, Fed Ex or a contracted courier. Something being declared as shipped indicates it changed hands. Doing this way leads to confusion where the package might be.Also, don't confuse my concern with impatience. I'd wait a week for it if I had to. It's just the way they decided to do this has confused me.
>>127621528cool, but sweetwater exchange is a place for people to sell and list their personal gear. It's not sweetwater running it. It's functionally the same as eBay.
>>127621586(I butchered that statement, sweetwater runs the site, not the logistics)
>>127621528ok but you're living in a brown america post covid. temper your expectations. the people that cared about their job are long dead
>>127621607>Brown AmericaI ain't hear no bell.
>>127621634
>>127621634yeah thats just the sound the ceiling makes
>>127621314I know the difference between construction woods (that are like 50% knots) and top graded ones. I still don't like the look of it. Hardwoods look more organic because of the kinda wavy grains.
>>127621398And this is why you should answer your sales reps call and give his ego a bit of succ succ with hand action..
>>127621783although I prefer the straight grain cut, you can get more texture cutting spruce in different orientations.
>>127621854>>127621854>>127621854
>>127621586This is a company using the website to sell their stock. They also have their own site and sell on reverb. I just don't understand why they just wouldn't label it as "shipment in process." Maybe gear exchange is just shit in comparison because I'm pretty sure even eBay has a "shipment in process" label.I'll find out Friday either way. It's highly possible UPS just didn't scan the damn thing. Lots of people who work in shipment nowadays aren't worth a shit.
