Adam Jones made an entire career out of that pickup, as did many other prolific professional and studio guitarists. They're on everything from 80s pop music to jazz and heavy metal records and everything in between. They're basically just a slightly hotter paf style. So I guess you could argue that "paf style" is the most prolific, but that encompasses many brands and models.
