I used to dream of days like these, where I have multiple of every guitar I lusted over as a kid, all of them set up to perfection allowing me to play them as hard as I can and they stay in tune and sound consistently good. I’m not rich, but having enough disposable income to experiment and throw money around on gear has been really good for my enjoyment and ability to play guitar. This Jag is my favorite guitar and I don’t see that changing any time soon, it’s robust, and has a 100% perfect feel and sound for me.

>>127746280
Vandenberg didn't play anything on Whitesnake albums (minus one solo in Here I Go Again) until the Restless Heart (1997).
Vandenberg was literally miming to John Sykes' playing in videos.
John Sykes used mostly his black Les Paul custom with Dirty Fingers pickups. The amps were Mesa/Boogie Coliseums.

I’m glad you like your Jag anon. I’ve been playing since I was 12 or 13 and have gone through a lot of gear over the years, and now in my early 30s I have more guitars than I’ve ever held on to at one time but honestly would be completely happy selling all but two or three off. It feels good to actually be able to try things out and narrow down to the things that you know you actually like.
>>
>>127746471
Just one tube amp, the EHX. The Orange 20 and my ancient MG100DFX are solid states. The guitars and effects are what I’ve really splurged on. 10 guitars in 2025 so far, and yes I play all of them regularly and they each serve a purpose.
>>
Would you buy a shitplank if it were the same as your first guitar?
>>
>>127746603
No.
>>
>>127746603
If I liked my first guitar yeah absolutely
>>
It's pretty easy to have guitars and amps if you have a job. They're really not that expensive. Guitar players are usually lower middle class and blue collar losers, it's not a violin
>>
>>127746471
stop gangstalking me
>>
>>127746572
I mean, I would sell some if I absolutely had to, but both Jags have unique qualities despite being nearly identical specs wise. Instruments are complex enough that even identical models have unique qualities. My Mustangs are a bit more varied and I plan on modding the MG73 with HR in the neck and HR or maybe a JB Jr in the bridge. The pickups are the only shortcoming on that guitar, the neck, bridge and trem are all A1 IMO. I am seriously starting to miss my JM, but I can’t rush the process or I’ll fudge it up again. This time I’ll be wet sanding less and applying more coats of nitro clear before I do, and allowing plenty of time to cure before the final wet sand and buff out.
>>
>>127746603
all my guitars are shitplanks (I think they're good but they're all under $350)
>>
>>127746603
No, my first guitar was an affinity Strat.. my first good guitar is this MIM Standard and I still have it. I’ve considered buying another in the same color (polar white) but this atrocious paint job has grown on me over the years and it still plays very nicely. It does need to soldering work though but that’s kinda low on my list of to do’s at the moment.
>>
>>127746685
This looks like you ingested a bunch of paint and then sprayed it out off your butthole onto the guitar.
>>
>>127746685
Oh and before you call me a troon, this paint job was done 15+ years ago before trannys even existed. It was done on a DMT/Dilaudid/Benzo blackout bender, back in the bad old days.
>>
>>127746698
I’m going to confide something. That paint job was done after putting drugs in my butthole. I boofed medical grade heroin and benzodiazepines because the tip broke off my last needle.
>>
I just did the math. I'm a broke loser and I've spent 5,900 dollars on guitars (not including amps and pedals)
the most expensive guitars being 900 dollars each (2 of them)
to be fair I did trade/sell most off
>>
>>127746685
It wouldn't bother me as much if you didn't paint the whole god damn guitar as it was without taking anything off, bridge and pick ups and everything

I did the math and just shy of $7k this year (yikes) and just shy of $11k last year (bigger yikes). Granted seven or eight years ago I sold around $15k worth of gear so I’m basically back where I started before I sold years ago so that makes me feel better. Maybe 75% of all that money was from selling gun stuff that used to be cheap but is now “collectible” and/or banned from import so it wasn’t like blowing paycheck after paycheck on gear, like I said a lot of elaborate trades years in the making

the knife edges would be the only thing that would fail. maybe the fine tuners or hex adjustment screws if you are a bit rough

the schaller floyds and floyd rose II had the knife edge issue.

My old kramer had a floyd rose II and it worked okay but after 30 years it had worn out. th floyd rose specials won't have that problem since they don't have inserts.

I've been playing for years, but I realized I don't even know how to practice, I just play. I've been stuck at the intermediate level for so long. Do I just practice a technique or play something I don't know repeatedly?

Yeah, just do something you're not good at until you are. It's that simple https://youtu.be/zisCvYjk6-o

He and his comments section push Fireflys way too hard. I saw one along the lines of "I bought 6 Fireflys for the cost of one MIA and I realized Fender and Gibson sucked compared to them!" - now I'm not saying fireflys are complete garbage but that guy was obviously paid off.

>>
those james tyler headstocks are ugly as sin
>>
>>127754426
just ask him how many MIA fenders he has owned and watch the cope flow. even gibson fanboys discuss qc issues at length on various forums and talk about how, "i had to send 2 guitars back before i got the les paul i wanted/paid for". it's funny how the people spending the least complain more about the items owned by the people spending the most.
>>
>>127754138
1) Pick a song you like, learn ALL the words by heart. But actually memorize stuff. This is by far the most important part of learning to play songs because once you know the words, you can apply the chord changes to the right place in time with the music.
2) Now that you know the words, learn the rhythm, chord changes and fills.
3) Learn the lead parts if there are any. Try and incorporate both the rhythm and lead into one instrument if possible since you probably don't have a band behind you just waiting around unless you have backing tracks to the song you're trying to learn. This is hard trying to be a full band with one player. You're rhythm, lead, singer and percussion all at once if you're playing it the right way.
4) repeat with at least 2 others songs so you have a good 3 song set to rely on.
5) Watch Scotty West's videos for 32.5 hrs of your life and learn music theory inside and out, you will by the time you finish his course.
6) Find others who share your passion for music. Hang out with them and go see lots of live music in your spare time. Join some amateur jams and open mics if you like to perform for others. Otherwise, just chill with friends with beers for fun.
7) Buy and read/do this book series: Alfred's Beginning Rock Guitar by Paul Howard, there's Intermediate and Mastering Rock Guitar too. It's a 3 book series. If you're intermediate, you should fly through the beginner book. Int is where the real fun starts. It will give you everything you need. There are videos too with the books.

Been playing acoustic guitar for a while. Should I buy a cheap electric to get started and upgrade later, or save some money and buy a decent one from the get go? By "decent" I mean maybe something around a 300-450 dollar range. I know guitars can up for over thousands, but I'm not there yet

To the other anon doing this course, how many lessons do you do a day? When this guy ends the videos, he always says for "homework" but these videos arent even more than 10 minutes so far. Do you just go back to the videos regularly? I feel like i could be done this by Friday but I definitely wont have absorbed everything from the course.
>>
>>127756130
well i was high intermediate to advanced so i did like 15 lessons the first day cause i already knew it. id probably do a few and practice each of the exercises in a few different keys and try to internalize it for a few days before moving on

Bro these are NOT warwicks but Rockbass BY warwick. You are basically buying random china slop that has nothing to do with warwick. They started making their genuine rockbass line with proper qc to remedy this anf those are really fucking good bang for your buck, you will get a pro model with the same hardware, electronics and features just without fancy african woods for like a fifth of the price. But those are genuine warwicks with the 3D warwick beidge, for the love of god, do NOT buy something that does not have the real warwick bridge and says ROCKBASS on the headstock, you will receive something like those 120 dollar p basses at walmart.
The newer models are more expensive but you gotta put it into perspective, you can pay 300 for a walmart bass or 800 gor a $4k bass without the fancy woods, because they are identical from the pro line apart from the wood choices and the electronic knob placement, pro lines often have stacked knobs whereas rockbasses have one more knob instead of stacking two.

T. Warwick expert, own four half of them modern rockbasses

Can anyone tell me what tone x is, why it's different from amplitude, and whether the free version is unlimited or a trial and what gets unlocked when I pay for it? I have never used this shit, but it does sound pretty good with the trial / free amp sims available. I've never used amplitude either. There's really not much information on their website or FAQ that tells me wtf I'm doing. Like I really don't even know what tonex is.
