>>127768309Well yeah keyboards have been used for basslines for like 50 years, if your keys player can handle the bass and their own part it's great. Seinfield was done on a keyboard btw.
Thinking of putting together a Tele partscaster and sending it off to have a B bender installed

bend this D instead
I like that the humbucker cover is curved and form-fitting, most covers are too square
>the CAGED system
bought a fretless bass while hammered drunk and it just arrived - what are some good songs to play on it? played money and noodling on it but want a song that's genuinely fun to play.
My hex keys came so I finally put some strings on my guitar
>>127768713CAGED like ur cock
kinda wish i kept going with this instrument when i was 11 and not just getting frustrated after 3months only to pick it up 20 years later and spend all of my free time on absolutely understanding this instrument. hurts more when all of your childhood friends don't even play anymore due to having wives and kids. it's already ogre and i can't even improvise the fretboard hahaha. How truly difficult is it to make money with this instrument? Not saying that's the goal but it would be nice to become successful.

>escape the CAGED system with this trick!
>>127768823mugglinworks.comscales-chords.comfretastic.comI took some music theory classes, basically everything you need (and if you really have dedicated some time to understanding guitar, none of these sites will offer much).>make money using the guitarif it's "not the goal" and not something you have to do to put food on the table, then there's two things you need to hear: 1) do everything in your power as a man to keep it from getting to that point and 2) You'll never get good enough to be satisfied if it isn't.Let it be just some shitty hobby that keeps you from fapping or playing vidya or watching movies or doomscrolling for a few hours a day.
>>127768828Watched this as a kid, I'll give it it a shot. My current ear worm is Spirit Crusher by Death but moving the stacked fifths 9th chord (i.e. 468 on the first 3 strings up to 579 and then immediately back) is whooping my ass.
>>127768860very good points, i am enjoying developing my ear and also recording myself and listening to it. It shows where I'm being lazy and not listening (learning songs already written). I'm just asking myself where I want to go with this because i'm sinking hundreds of hours into this thing. My modellers for success have always been the rockstars or people who play live shows but that could never be me (i'm too old). who knows, anyway. keep rockin that fretboard fellas

>>127768936You'll improve fastest finding people to play with, but if that isn't an option, check youtube for playalong tracks or pick up something like the zoom g1 four - any drum machine and/or looper to play rhythm and lead parts on whatever shit you come up with. I've come to respect musicians on a whole nother level trying to record shit, even with fake bandmates. Even just finding a teacher/coach is imminently worthwhile, the social aspect of learning guitar was my most neglected aspect, just another human brain to look at what you're doing can set you miles ahead of what you can do purely solo.
>>127768959>check youtube for playalong tracksjust search "[x mode] guitar backing track" and you'll probably find something. Dorian, Phrygian, etc. Having less control over the style, BPM and "feel" can be a huge benefit - playing something outside of your typical comfort zone opens it up. For example, it was some "Santana style" video that showed the underlying chords that got me to really get the dorian mode. Never got the bpm or time signature or anything, but listening to it and jamming, just playing minor pentatonic and throwing in the 2 and raised sixth, maybe bending or sliding away to chord tones, etc, so huge for my development. But playing in a "restricted" environment helps immensely - if you took a schoolkid, handed him a guitar or trombone and told him to play something, it would suck. But let him bang his hands on the desk, and he can come up with a rhythm and unique sound. Same idea - restricting yourself is infinitely more productive than unlimited options.
i haven't played my acoustic for a couple of years and now the action is ridiculously high. it hurts to play

Guy asks what gauge and I say "lightest you got". He immediately laughed and said, "ok?". >>127769068I got a shitty acoustic as a present, so I can't throw it away. It's a pain to play. I also cut my fingers because the frets were incredibly sharp. That's when I bought some gear to "fix it" myself. I managed to file the fret ends down, so they're not sharp anymore. It could still use some improvments, but I'm too lazy. Then I noticed buzz on certain frets. I checked them and they were uneven. So I bought one of those plastic head hammers and hammered it down. Now they're even and the buzz is gone. I filed the saddle down to decrease the action. It worked. I even bought a new compensated saddle, but I haven't installed it yet. I replaced the strings with the thinnest and least tension I could find (14, I think). It sounds kinda weak now.Despite all of that, I still can't play that thing properly because my hands hurt.
>>127768796Is that some sort of detuner on the E strings? Also I thought most RG's didn't have the RG on the headstock...must be a new Ibanez thing
anyone have experience with GFS pickups? these are supposed to be copies of Seymour Duncans. i'd like to put them in my les paul
