Control your thoughts or someone else might, lad. It can be a choice sometimes. Which way you let your mind go. Calm your mind if you can. If you can't change scenery and go somewhere. Try to change your stream of thoughts. Often the worry is more painful than the actual result. But sometimes it's not. Do things that make you calm. Either way, it's only rock and roll.

I don't see nibs, but that looks like neck binding in that light. Those look like grovers. Whatever the deco inlay is called and pearloid logo. Trapezoids on the fretboard.

I see binding and nibs on the special. I thought specials didn't come with anything. They were just a solid color and no frills. My studio has the poverty yellow screened Gibson, like the "Les Paul special" in the pic.

People say these rules then Gibson does whatever they want model to model.

Learn his songs? Check interviews for influences and any weird tunings is there are. So far the harder ones to get on with from the newer guitar heroes are Tosin with his selective picking, Mateo Mancuso which isn't that weird if you come from classical.

BABA is fucking printing. It's a 10 year Wyckoff pattern. It's been at the bottom of the shit for half your life and it's a much less shitty Temu.
>>
>>127963405
Then that's a good start. I use a function in audacity that slows down pitch without changing the tempo. There would be other programs out there that does the same thing. To make it easier you could also watch his live play through to get an idea where on the fretbpard or if he taps that part. If you're anal and want to get his tones, there's a cracked Neural DSP suite in r u t r a c k e r that has his plug in. It's doable and you'd learn a lot technique and ear wise that would make you a better player. Good luck.

You're welcome. It's up to you if you want to spend to cop his tone for recording.. hence I recommended the pirated one (they haven't cracked the newer archetypes). His distorted amp plug in is 5150 based iirc, just add some delay and reverb if you have any pedals or multi fx lying around already.
I find that latency is always a bitch when playing through a pc. But a method that helped was using the 4 cable method and the usb on my quad cortex - using the amplifier as the hardware output with some dry amp tone mixed in instead of pure software amplification + monitors/pc speakers . What's the last one you used and how was the latency?
>>
>>127964267
This is how I run tonexone. Just monitor audio with the pedal output while the computer tracks recording via usb c.

I mean it's easy to be yourself. Don't try to be anyone else. You could even not be that skilled, but as long as you got style, you'll still rock. Don't compare yourself to others...at least not in an unhealthy way where you get too discouraged.

How is this possible, I'm trying to play their riffs. Should I write my own music?
>>
>>127964441
There was this nice thing Shawn Lane said in one of his 90's clinics. No matter what level of playing you're at - beginner, intermediate or advance always be playing/making music (there's a distinction, forgot which). This is a freak that even the shredlords back then were scared of and publicly admit they can't cop his speed and licks.
>>

>>
>>127964647
You should. You can still put your own spin on other songs. Or just learn licks from them and build your songs from them. That's how I see it. Licks and riffs are like little Lego Pieces. You can build the Lego model on the box once. But after that, you should play with the pieces from different lego sets and make your own stuff.

Neural DSP and Kemper.

My Saturday routine has become pretty rigid, sleep in til 9:30, get up and play guitar for at least 3 hours. Nothing super formal, mostly dusting off old riffs and songs I’ve written so I don’t forget them. I have a few newer songs that rely on tremolo I wrote on my Jags/Jazzmaster, I tried them out on the Crestwood here but the Tremotone (tm) can’t hang with the superior Fender locking trem. The strings go sharp on the Crestwood, and the spring tension can’t be adjusted. Pointless trem aside, this thing has aged/broken in to be a very decent guitar for a Chinee Epiphone. The mini buckers sounds very nice, it kinda makes me want to give a used SG a serious try.. I’ve bought too many guitars this year though, and Gibson is a little rich even for my blood.
>>
>>127964752
I've never actually played mini buckers.
>>
>>127964647
There's nothing stopping you from learning their riffs while writing your own but you. Technical difficulty is remedied by practice; mental fortitude in learning their stuff, how easy harmony and pitches come to you that's your talent/genetics/personality that makes the good musicians stand out. The self doubt and feeling like a fraud never truly disappears even for some accomplished players and working musicians i.e. Nick Johnston and Allen Hinds in their Anderton's interview.
IMHO it's worse to not have it regardless of your level of musicianship because you'll lose one driving factor in getting better and innovating. At the same time if you don't have enough confidence and self love for your playing you'll forever be stuck practicing in the bedroom or not releasing your stuff - there's a Paul Gilbert clip on Shawn Lane regarding the latter.

The main reason Apple didn't put Garage Band on PCs is precisely because Windows already had even more software back in the day. They had to had more to make the platform attractive to new buyers. So Apple decided to include a suite of good shit in the box for free... And they got to be very good over time. Good office suite, good audio (Garage Band), good video editing (iMovie), etc..

I’m thinking one-stop shop - make myself the producers for the tunes, take press photos (and nudes), and getting em loose with booze.
>I think that bitch Neko Case did this, and she’s got nudes that show off her rockabilly fire crotch.

I also have my own electronic music and acoustic projects that I’m gearing up to sell (inb4 muh AI devastation). Featuring vocalists on releases and in performances is a power move in college-town-adjacent locations - especially when you’ve got different women doing your shit. Plus, you can remove negative pretexts if you invite a bunch of them over for FFM threeso—I mean jam sessions or songwriters in the round.

I like Matthew Herbert’s stuff and having a a stable of chanteuses is a power move. I also have a wide selection of instruments so I can give these girls a “kid in a candy store” feeling. Being able to produce a horn section with a guitar solo while some bitch yaks about her dads credit card sounds good to me.

Japan is not China anyhow. They actually have rock culture. They're the only thing keep rock alive. The tragedy of China involved in music is they have no actual culture. Even Mexico is better than that. Not the biggest rock culture either, but they definitely have a strong guitar culture.
Just like I think Ola building his Solar guitars in Spain is a cool thing. Better than so many guys outsourcing to China. Spain invented the damn guitar. And it employs Europeans to boot.

I don't think they hurt fingers, but it is a lot easier to move around a classical.
I can't play classical music though...or haven't tried much. But any given song is easier to play on a nylon than a regular acoustic. But it won't necessarily sound as good. Especially strumming, where steel strings shine.
>>
>>127967281

>>
>>127967295
For me it's the opposite, switching chords in an acoustic feels much easier, while in a classical it feels like strings always end up ringing out.
>>127967311
I mean classical guitar, not classical music. Flamenco, bossa nova and other latin music have many barre chords.

"Policy of Truth" is such a banger it is ridiculous. I'm putting this shit on now. I used to play Depeche Mode tunes busking in PDX back in the day, and they always killed - same deal with New Order, and you can do Peter Hook's sublime basslines.

Actually, come to think of it, the chord progression for "Enjoy the Silence" has some real wonky chords. Let's see:

Verse:
Cm
Ebm
Ab

>I usually hate minor chords moving in minor third, but this shift in the key center fits the tune.

CHORUS:
Fm
Ab
Cm
Bb

Fm
Ab
Cm
B

>Doing the B is a strange way to go back into the Cminor, but what the fuck do I know.

I’m using metal thumb picks, a fucking necessity when I used to play fingerstyle in BART tunnels - People’s Park and the juggalos thereabouts hold a special place in my heart.

I use a brass slide because it almost has a magnetism to it. You can play it messy like I did but precision requires a high action which fucks up fretted notes. So you gotta be delicate to get that resonator sound. You can also do Carnatic music and Arabic maqams if you drone some strings.

Plastic fingerpicks suck.

The other thing is to purposely fuck yo the muting. If you don’t mute it, you can get some cool dual resonances which work in most open tunings at the 5th, 7th, and 12th harmonic notes. It helps me sound like an alcoholic black dude.

And the contrapuntal shit is just pattern picking and banjo rolls.

Question:
>is sweep picking possible on bass?
>>
i have been playing for 20 years and i still haven't found a pick i like. i have settled on 1.14mm but don't like nylon and like tortex more but tortex is too slippery but nylon sounds too "flat" but ultex is way too slippery and i can't hold on to anything anyway and now i'm using these rubber pads just to keep the picks from sliding and i think i'm gonna go full jeff beck/lindsey buckingham and give up on picks all together
>>
>>127970882

>>
>>127970903
Every pick has its use. For the shred stuff, it takes a lack of friction, so stubby shit works (that’s the secret to Django’s playing too). But then you have dudes who use thin picks like McLaughlin. I saw wooden picks at the shop and was reminded that they kind of fall flat.

They each make you play differently. I use thicker ones for busking, but thinner for recording.

if you can play them get the one in your budget that sounds and feels good. take a piece of paper and see if you can slide it under the bridge anywhere, and look down the long side of the beck to see if it's bowed or the action is too high. i don't the cheaper ones have truss rods. traditionally they wouldn't have truss rods

c40 is widely regarded as best budget classical if it's in your price range

Don’t forget to get the leg stool

Classic guitar version of this would be sick:

Thanks bros, these were helpful
One last question though, is this supposed to be the same as the last one

I posted or is the c40II actually different than c40, both says full size but the amazon one is cheaper and has free shipping

cheaper tonewood as far as i can tell. i really doubt it matters for a nylon guitar they really don't have much sustain and aren't pushing a lot of air. technically laminated sides are a lot more durable and give you more projection but they're seen as lesser quality

You have options, you can buy one of those with humburgers

I've seen a couple of these irl but that finish in particular is ugly and I can't afford it
The black one looks pretty good however

Yeah, you’d need compression and then you sound like Billy Sheehan (SCIENTOLOGY). I did see Hella and their bassist (4-piece) was ripping sweeps. Blew Dillinger Escale Plan off the stage.
