>>128123618guitartard here, what exactly are the tonal differences between a j-bass and a p-bass besides the j having an extra rhythm pickup? Does the split coil on the p-bass cause it to be humbucking?
>>128123695>humbuckingyeahj-basses have that lower bridge pup though, for even brighter sounds. but you can get that on most modern p-basses which are j-p basses really.
How good is Avril at playing?
>>128123768she plucks at my heartstrings like Segovia
>>128123768Her and her clone both suck
>>128123768She gets told what to play by the band but she is an honest to goodness great singer, got discovered in canada at a competition iirc. The first band she played with for the first album, the matrix, were a bunch of fucking nigh savants and they do a lot of background music production stuff for pop acts with the like 4-5 danish guys that run the entire pop world irt songwriting now.
>>128123695the p bass is more or less an exclusive rock bass that is really good at what it does but doesn't do much else, jazz bass is basically the equivalent of a strat, it excels at certain genres and is also really versatile
>>128123578do you think girls use telecaster headstocks for masturbation?
>>128123695yeah the p bass is hum cancelling. p bass is just a great all rounder that sits well in any mix without much eq. I find the limitation of a single pickup to be very good for promoting dynamics and exploring expression more in the instrument itself personally, but if you want a good funk tone I think you absolutely must have a bridge pickup. funk bass really needs those low mids
>>128123639jokes on you, i do all of those + learn guitar and bass and keyboard
>>128123995that’s not true. p bass has been used in everything to great effect including soul, Motown, blues, metal, rock, jazz, reggae, bluegrass, country… it’s really done it all, they even slap well. a good amp can make a p bass work in anything but yes a jazz bass is more versatile even if the neck pickup sounds bland
the pj bass is the ultimate bass cause you get a bridge pickup but not the gay and ugly, tranny weak neck shape of a jazz bass
>>128124098my question now is, wtf is up with those musicman stingrays with the absolutely fuckhueg humbuckers, are they just really hot and made for metal?
>>128124083you'll never be a master gooner and master guitarist at the same time. look at the years of dedication it took to be this man.
>>128124163not really most guys playing these just play pop, slappy funk or reggae, the bongo series is the one actually for metal
>>128124163these were actually designed for country believe it or not. they also sound good in every genre cause they have a pretty versatile preamp. I don’t know of anyone that actually uses the neck pickup on these so save the money and get a single pickup model. my favorite bass tone behind the sg bass personally, but these basses weigh like 12 pounds
I regret buying my Custom Shop Tele. It has ruined all other electrics for me. It’s been two months with it and I still can’t put it down. I’ve owned a few Teles over the years and have played many dozens of them and this thing just has something no other Telecaster I’ve ever played has. I’ve never really been a believer in the whole Custom Shop thing unless you’re specifically wanting a very certain thing built with very certain specs but whatever they did building this I swear they imbued a little magic in it. I’m considering selling some other guitars just because I don’t really see myself doing more than just fiddling around on them when I could be actually playing this thing instead
>>128124163example of good music man tone imo. not the most interesting song choice thohttps://youtube.com/shorts/A42tzV_waIw?si=PgbrPrmSUs7Uk6ka
>>128124202that doesn’t sound like regret. people that think you should own multiple guitars just don’t have a good guitar. you have your guitar and a cheap backup in case that one is the shop
Flea used to use a Stingray a lot in the early days. Rumbling and good mids alike.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aJfQdui66E
>>128124221Nah it’s not really regret, I love this thing. I just can’t see myself reaching for any other single coil guitar other than if I specifically want something with a vibrato or out of phase or whatever, something a Tele can’t do
>>128123578Is this a new neck slot design you can see as the teardrop here on the back of this eastman? Tbh I'm not mad if they use joinery but I'm surprised

Art Bell here. Above the Rockies your on the air. Let's hear some riffs.
>>128124579you can still get 10 years out of slapped strings plus it doesn’t really matter everyone squishes it with compression and cut the mids anyway for slapping
I needed a delay but have been waiting for the BM-14m to release and it keeps getting pushed back, so I buckled and bought a Flight Delay. I have not been impressed with other JHS pedals I’ve tried like the Bonsai or Packrat, but the Flight Delay is pretty great. The reverse setting is so good I’ll be using it instead of the reverse reverb on my R7-X2. It perfectly fits a few of my songs using that type of effect. Going to need a bigger pedal board… first I considered making one Paul Gilbert style, on the cheap. Then I started looking at high end ones, and iso power supplies but said fuck that and I’m just going to get a generic 45” x 16” one off amazon. The one in picrel is a cheapo amazon board and it’s treated me very well, it’s just too small for what I currently use. Maybe I’ll construct a master board and combine this and the new, bigger board if I run out of space on it. I do need to get a better system for power sooner than later but I’m a bit overwhelmed at the options and hesitant to drop hundreds of dollars and experience some of the noise issues I’ve seen with isolated power supplies.

>>128125196oof. I can't even figure out how to cut that. It's almost like it was routed on an axle. How tight are most set neck pockets? The kits are loose af. It took some finesse and shims to make those cooperate.
>>128125269Is the neck pickup actually that overwound or is it just for show?
>>128125232Why would you play anything besides a P-Bass.
>>128124803Is that a 12W Crush on the left? I have one and love it, but not much of a guitar player.
Do you FACGCE?
>>128125274neck pockets are typically wedge shaped and the excess is taken up with shims or glue so they get better fitment the more you seat them in. that joint doesn’t do that and was probably routed on a 5 axis CNC but still seems like an expensive process. It looks like it provides good resistance against string tension but I can imagine tons of problems with fitment even a year or two down the road. having just two screws in a linear arrangement seems like a terrible idea. >>128125274it’s a sidewinder pickup but they’re not dramatically hot. I think the dimarzio replacement is like twice the output. some people like the neck pickup solo with the tone off and it moves a fucking metric shitload of air and will shake an arena but harmonically there’s not a lot going on. here’s an example or great tone imo it’s a marshal super lead bass amp sim with fuzz and 70/30 bridge neck split roughly. The OG circuits had the baritone like switches that basically added a really peaky fuzz and that’s what people liked about their tone https://youtu.be/Uyha4WlEzfc

Doppler Effect When the waves pass our ears, a sound is detected. The distance between any two waves is called the wavelength and the time interval between waves passing is called the frequency . The wavelength and the frequency are related by the speed of sound; high frequency implies short wavelength and low frequency implies a long wavelength. The brain associates a certain musical pitch with each frequency; the higher the frequency, the higher the pitch. Similarly, shorter wavelengths produce higher pitches. The speed of transmission of the sound remains a constant regardless of the frequency or the wavelength. The speed of sound only depends on the state of the air (or gas) not on the characteristics of the generating source.Because the speed of sound depends only on the state of the gas, some interesting physical phenomena occur when a sound source moves through a uniform gas. You can study some of these phenomena by using the interactive sound wave simulator. As the source moves it continues to generate sound waves which move at the speed of sound. Since the source is moving slower than the speed of sound, the waves move out away from the source. Upstream (in the direction of the motion), the waves bunch up and the wavelength decreases. Downstream, the waves spread out and the wavelength increases. The sound that our ear detects will change in pitch as the object passes. This change in pitch is called a doppler effect. There are equations that describe the doppler effect. As the moving source approaches our ear, the wavelength is shorter, the frequency is higher and we hear a higher pitch. If we call the approaching frequency fa, the speed of sound a, the velocity of the approaching souce u, and the frequency of the sound at the source f, thenfa = [f * a] / [a - u]As the moving source leaves us, the wavelength is longer, the frequency is lower and the pitch is lower. Again. if the leaving frequency is called fl, thenfl = [f * a] / [a + u]

I have been so busy fixing my new car and door dashing to get the money to do the strut links and sensor that I haven’t been able to play my new guitar or bf6 barely at all. Hopefully by next week I can slow down a bit and focus on building a set list for a cover band. I’m thinking 90s/2000s alt / butt / hard rock. Toughest part is going to be finding a singer that has a good range for all the covers I want to do.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXmjhRkPVFc
Is playing with pedals really that fun?
I’d love to put man in the box, far behind, little miss can’t be wrong, one last breath, higher, numb, it’s not my time, how you remind me, I alone, unforgiven, possum kingdom, tomorrow (silverchair), 1979, etc in the setlist but I don’t think I’ll find a singer that can do all of those. Maybe better to stick to pop / punk / alt.>>128127960I’m more of a plug in and volume knob type of guy which is why I enjoy modelers. I am not a tinkerer. It might be easier for me to find a female singer that isn’t annoying for the high ranges and just do the baritone range myself since I’ve got a good voice for that era in my range. Could work.

>>128124172This guy obviously plays CoD with his bros: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyQGp5rDkmEProbably got super sergeant mega leftenant general gold cross rank or whatever, one millionth prestige. Still has time left over to completely mog me on guitar.

I’ve got a few questions about mics.In all honesty, how good/bad of an idea would it be to record with something like pic rel vs say an AT2020?Also what kind of mic is pic rel?
>>128129451Wasn’t terrible like the other goober
Joe got a great tone with just a JC120, DS1 and DD3https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPS8iYBz2YY
>>128129970Those three thing cost like twice of all my gear combined
>>128130024there are a bunch of Jazz Chorus clones you can pick up cheap and the DS-1 and DD-3 cost fuck all. you can even get behringer clones of them.or just get a katana.
>>128127413Same, I get erect whenever he gets scammed or fucked over. It all starts with his pedophilic sounding Kermit voice
>>128127413Yup
>>128130051>bunch of Jazz Chorus clonesWhich ones? Never seen an actual clone of it.
Volume: 10Treble: 10Tubes: hotTele bridge pickup: always onI am Bloomfieldmaxxing and Boonmaxxing
>>128130141randall, yamaha, crate, peavey all made stereo chorus solid state amps that sound almost identical to the JC
>>128127385No you don’t. PRS are the worst guitars
>>128130231Only PRS single cuts are worth getting. The rest are just boring wannabe interesting strat clones.
>>128123578why's this bitch's face so weird looking?
>>128130231>strandberg
>>128130289Canadian
>>128130278The doublecuts are less strat clones than the singlecuts being les paul clones
>>128130311Strats and Les Pauls are both garbage. No reason to clone them
>>128130319Go tell that to every guitar company on earth since they all clone those two guitars at some point
>>128130024Behringers line of Moog clone pedals is fucking amazing. The originals cost thousands of dollars and are highly sought after, the virtually identical Behringer clones are $150 on average. The 6-12 stage phaser is my favorite.
>>128130319How about this copy?
>extra small penis
>extra savoury penis
>>128130311Pretty true but still clones nonetheless. That's why I said wannabe interesting. But LPs are gorgeous and strats are boring.
>>128130402If only ESP did 2 volume 2 tone configuration and a bit longer horn.
Les Pauls look okay but they aren’t comfortable to play. They’re an ergonomic nightmare.
>>128127007Generally, single pup teles are esquires and bridge is still bridge but the mid/top switch positions are tone variations, one is a bypass and the other is a hi-end choke iircAlso if ur a gay jew like rhett shull, one pup means less "magnetic force" disharmonizing your strings or some shit.
>>128130231I finally got to play a real strandberg recently and what killed me is that my cheap chinese knockoff has the objectively better end-of-neck string ball placement instead of having to dick around with alan keys during string changes like an incel
>>128127312nice
>>128128394>a half step flatFuck off with your greasy hippie measurements and talk to me in cents.
>>128130289all celebs are trans'd in the womb
>>128130529amateur takeonce you get to a certain level none of that stuff really matters
>>128130566EART?
>>128123578Fuck. Avril Lavigne was so fucking hot in the 2000s
>>128130289I could get with dose thighs doe.
>>128130529You are completely right>t. paulcuckWhat pisses me off is that gibson REFUSES to do both a heel carve and a belly scarf on the same guitar, they each go to two seperate guitars, meanwhile I can get a chinese LP clone off of ebay for 350 with both at the cost of not having gibson emblazoned on the headstock
>>128130746Yyyyyep, you got me. Still dramatically easier string changes than contemporary sberg/hils or floyd setup.
loving whole step down tuning (D standard)should have tried this years ago
Kind of want to buy a Yamaha SG2000 boys. I played a Gibson SG 61 reissue once and loved it, but those are out of my price range.
This one's only $1650 with locking nut
>>128131137Im not gonna stop you
>>128131137Aren't they about the same price?
