I owned one for a while and really wanted to love it, I just ended up feeling like it's a fundamentally flawed instrument in some ways. It is begging for a way to get piano like sustain but I don't see how that would be physically possible, and the action is so low it has an inherently weak tone imo. But I also don't think anyone has really managed to push it to its limits either, its a very interesting instrument for sure.

Really wanting to get into fretless bass. Please give brand recommendations (preferably one with visual markers but not required).
>>
>>128252793
they should all have side markers which is all you need really. I’d find something that has two pickups because single pickup fretless basses sound very one dimensional. you’ll probably need to get the nut set up because I find that’s a lot more important on fretless instruments. if you have money just get the Tony Franklin signature fender

Alright so I’m going to have around 1400 left for a guitar.

Guitars I’m currently considering are:
The candy apple red charvel pro mod plus with Floyd 1500 that I would swap the pickups on for JB/59
Save 500 dollars more and pick up a used Les Paul standard 60s
A used but excellent condition PRS Custom 24 CE (bolt on maple neck) on marketplace near me for 1200. Only problem is it’s like a darker seafoam greenish color but it almost looks gray. I’ll put that one in pic related. I’m sure I could talk him down to 1100 on that one

As far as value for the money the PRS takes the lead as it’s a 2700 dollar guitar new and they usually go for 1800-2000 on reverb.
Versatility is a tie between the charvel and PRS
Absolute toan and aura has to go to a Les Paul but it will severely limit the songs I can play until I can afford a guitar with a Floyd and one with single coils.

I’m leaning toward the PRS because I know it’ll do all the grunge and hard rock stuff I want to do, it won’t require that I spend extra money on a setup or pickups. It is a USA made guitar with USA core pickups and locking tuners. It has coil splits that sound pretty good actually. I know I like the way PRS feel and play. But idk let me know what you guys think or if you have any other suggestions for sub 1500 dollar guitars.

It's theoretically possible but the wood could be fucked where the previous screws are if the trem has been used a lot.
If you insist then you'll just have to fill and sand the old holes before drilling new ones. I'd suggest giving the filler far longer to set than suggested. You want it to have similar moisture levels to the wood before you repaint it.

match it with your cab dumdum
also, read the fucking manual. really. do you see those two 8 ohms inputs? at a glance, you'd think "ok, i can plug two 8 ohms cabs"
that's wrong. those two inputs are wired in parallel, so they're expecting either one 8 ohms cab or two 16 ohms cabs
>Is 8/16 ohm somewhat universal for cabs?
kind of. for cabs with one or two speakers, 99% are. on half stacks you might run into a few with both 16 and 4 ohms jacks
also keep in mind that class D power amps are only rated for their max wattage at 2 or 4 ohms, if you ever decide to go that way. they can only deliver half their nominal wattage to an 8 ohms cab, and about a quarter for 16.
you can wire a 32 cab easily, but i don't remember ever seeing a head rated for it. so yeah, don't.

I don't want black unless it's on the pickguard. There's like 4 nice blues, 3 reds, 3 greens, capri orange, and a couple of nice bursts. Even if I could afford all of that it's too many for one guy.
>>
>>128257635
And aged white. Those three are all I like.
>>
Alright I made a final decision on the guitar. I’m going with an inspired by Gibson custom shop 1960s Les Paul in iced tea burst. For a few reasons:

>long neck tenon
>rosewood fretboard
>mop inlays
>usa custom shop historic abr-1
>vintage correct wiring, pots and switches
>vintage correct slim neck profile
>custombuckers
>real maple AAA flamed top (not veneer)

Other than the fact that it’s poly instead of nitro and it says epiphone on the headstock / gay truss rod cover it’s appointed identically to a custom shop R0 and will sound and play nearly the same. They sold me the one with the nicest top for $1140 with free shipping. And I just don’t think I can get a better playing or sounding guitar for that price.

I’m not that concerned with how it looks. All I want is an LP that sounds like all the vintage LP tones I’ve been chasing. There’s a certain harmonic quality vintage Les Pauls have. The feedback and natural harmonics you get when you crank them is what I’m after.

I’ve had nitro guitars. They’re nice, but I’d rather have the specs I’m after than nitro. American is always better at least in terms of hardware and specs. Although MIA fenders have had horrible qc lately. I’m not paying 8000 dollars for an R0 tho.

Thanks bro. I’m doing the band camp route, then Spotify. It will be hard to avoid the Tiny Desk crowd, but if I move to western mass, playing at Mass MoCA and around Northampton could be a win

Bitches loved me on Omegle, so it’s time to put out the bat signal and start attracting 28 - 32 year olds with young students thrown in once per semester to make sure we still got it.

I’m switching from GarageBand phone to Ableton, but both are useful for creating demos on the fly.

As I’ve been a freelancer, speed is what you need. Right now, I’m updating all of my workflows with macros, so I can focus more on getting ideas down quick or adding a 3 second pause accommodating instrument positioning (like violin).

I also like to collaborate. Leaving space for someone to rip is also fun. I find that this boosts someone vanity and brings the real talent out. Plus I can credit the ideas and spread some wealth from those sweet sweet royalties. I’ve published a shit ton of ebooks, so it’s nice to have free money appear for a job well done.
>it’s the only real meritocracy out there

So yeah, I’ll do more SHRED BEDS. I can do this shit all day and hope to attain arthoes with talent for my harem.

The electro interference has changed modes the past week. I've been recording silence and expanding and compressing. I lowered the frequencies above and below human hearing spectrum and boosted them. Doubled it and moved it around until phase cancelation occured. I translated the signal into Morse code via ai and turned it into an equation. I divided by πr^2. It seems to be pointing to a central harmonic node. Either way I'm inverting the phase and playing it through the subdermal cochlear implants. Seems to cancel out the interference somewhat. They will change the frequency regardless. Degaussing my guitar rn. Might post a jam later. All secure in sector 7.

Space your sessions out AND never play when you’re bored. You should always associate it as an outlet.

Listen to the most advanced things out there and try to fall flat. That’s your ceiling and you can then work up techniques that open up new avenues. Slide guitar is one step away from Carnatic music.

That being said, fastest way to improve is to learn another instrument. Piano gave me contrapuntal capabilities after I hit a rut. Banjo gave me fingerpicks, banjo rolls, and frailing. Violin gave me expanded awareness of strings a 5th apart and how to keep up rhythm as part of a “arm dance”

return policy doesn't matter. reverb will take the buyers side 100% of the time no matter what. seller purchased my boss amp expander and initiated a refund the next morning saying "something came up" and i shouldn't have purchased it. i have no return policy on my shop, the money had already been sent to Reverb, and i was literally walking out the door to ship it. Reverb said that i had to cancel it even though the transaction already happened and the buyers situation post transaction was irrelevant. they said if i didn't refund then the buyer could make a claim against me even though the transaction was processed and everything was done by the book. i'll never sell on Reverb ever again because buyer's remorse nulled my transaction. fuck them

I think the cream looks the best but get ones with black numbers on them. If they’re too skinny you could try gibson 60s style top hat knobs with the chrome center caps, seeing as it has an HH configuration. Or you could go with tele style in a black or cream like anon suggested.

Actually didn’t realize you replaced the tone with a coil tap switch. Idk maybe black tele style metal would be best to keep that from drawing a ton of attention. If I were you I’d put the switch in the number 1 position and reroute the volume to where the switch is now. Unless you like it being in the way of your picking hand, but it’s your guitar not mine.

The brushed chrome is my favorite and blends the best in that lineup btw

new Gibson SG bass, new fender vintage II p bass or 1972 p bass in very good condition for sale near me ($4200)? if I don’t buy the vintage one I can get a very good DI box also
>>
>>128262788
no point in the vintage upcharge for CBS era when new will be better
I'd get the vintage II peeb
>>
>>128262816
that’s what I’m thinking also. I love me a p bass but I do miss that bridge pickup. I think with the stomp box (darkglass anagram) I can color the sound enough to cop a bridge pickup

CBS Femders are still really, really cool but not for the premium they go for nowadays. For many many years CBS Fenders were unwanted compared to pre CBS and even modern production and the price reflected that, but to pay literal Custom Shop prices for CBS is dumb, especially when a Custom Shop will be a much nicer feeling and playing instrument.

3 color sunburst (Jamerson) or Daphne blue (me but also $400 off open box)?

kek

$400 off is hard to pass, especially if you like that particular color the best

I'm going to a gaming/music convention next year and they have a jam space for musicians. I'm pretty nervous but I'm excited to play with others. Going to try and take practicing a bit more serious.

Good luck anon, you might make it

Daphne blue P bass with a white guard and rosewood board is one of my top 5 favorite P bass colors, but Daphne blue with tort is super ugly and Daphne blue with maple is also super ugly. If it’s rosewood and white pick guard I’d go for the $400 off, if not can’t go wrong with sunburst.

I might buy two klones just to switch between using it as a boost and full on drive, is this stupid? Is there a better way to do it?

SHRED BED VOLUME 11:

Style: Fall weather revenge, the sniffles
Tuning: D open minor (or lower DADFAD)

Epic sounding music in acoustic is underrated. Make this shit remind you on the forests outside Keene, NH. I wrote this in a van in Nashua.

I agree tort on Daphne blue is pretty ugly. Shiet well I guess I’ll get it ordered

Call sweetwater and ask if they can discount the one you want. I got my guitar for 50 dollars less than open box. They likely will not say no or even question your request.
