Some barres are genuinely hard though. I don't know if this one counts but D shape 'barres' (even though you only bar one string, are hard cause of the stretching required in the lower frets, like doing a XX1343 is a D sharp major and it's truly Mr Fantastic-esque

>>128264674
I know he’s asking about them I’m just not sure wtf he’s asking. They’re Strats with Seymour Duncan or fishman fluence pickups and a Floyd rose. The necks are graphite reinforced unfinished or roasted maple and they’re thin with a pretty flat compound radius. If those are the specs you’re looking for in a guitar then they’re excellent. I have not had any build quality or otherwise complaints with the 3 I’ve owned. My main gripe is that most of the colors suck and they need to be more creative with exotic woods like Ibanez and schecter. I want to see more natural and burst finish guitars from them and less cheesy hair metal colors.
>>
>>128264723

Never too late brother. Go on Reverb and buy a used Boss Katana, used Squier Classic Vibe, and watch the YouTube series in the OP (https://youtu.be/Gg1L-sBIxnY). At Newport in ‘65 he made the sound guys and the guys running the event MAD because he was so loud, they were upset enough at going electric but then his volume was just absurd. He refused to turn it down. Like in the early/mid 60s there was loud and then there was Bloomfield loud. Imagine a Super Reverb in the studio or one/sometimes two Twin Reverbs live and those amps totally dimed out on volume and treble. That is LOUD and that was Bloomfield’s standard.
>>

I started at 34 and I haven’t experienced any problems other than occasional hand pain but I’ve also been a mechanic of some sort my entire life. I actually seemed to be learning faster than most people, but that’s probably a combination of actually having structured, effective practice and sticking to it and also being fairly intelligent. there’s no shortcut to figuring out technique, you’re going to have to put in the hours because everyone is different and no one can teach you true form because there isn’t one. learning is sucking and finding 20 different slight improvements that finally add up to clean, fast, accurate technique

The only weird thing about Charvels is that Wayne Charvel himself has long since been gone from that company.. and makes Wayne guitars instead. So it has nothing to do with him. Same with Jackson.

Don’t get a bundle, the amp will suck. Like other anons suggested find a used Yamaha thr, boss katana, or line 6 catalyst in the sub 200 dollar range near you. You’ll get actual usable tones and see way more mileage from one of those vs barely loud enough horrible clean and janky distortion on the cheap ones they bundle. A boss katana 50w will serve you well as a practice amp no matter how advanced you become. I’ve been playing for 30 years and I would still use one of those if I needed to practice with volume in the room. But mostly I just plug into an amp sim or run a modeler with headphones. Get something with an aux in and headphone out for sure because nobody wants to hear someone practice the same riff 200 times in a row, and it’ll help you hear the mix of the song you’re playing along to. Also, you’ll want something that you can plug a foot switch into so you can go from clean to distorted sounds when you’re playing songs. All the amps I listed have foot switches available and have the ability to be plugged into a computer to edit and save patches. They have communities with people who share free patches based on popular songs and tones that you can load in. Try to find one that is for sale with a foot switch because those can cost upwards of 200 dollars. Alternatively you could look at a line 6 pod GO for around 300 and that would do everything you need with headphones. If you wanted volume in the room later on you could plug it into a katana or catalyst.

Wait should I buy that ce24 in puke trampas green instead of the inspired by Les Paul now? I didn’t know PRS were going under.
>>
>>128268216
You should rethink spending $1200 on an epiphone when sweetwater has standards for under $2k, yes.
>>
>>128265051
The reason they have that reputation is because:
Graphite reinforced unfinished maple neck (no sticky poly bs you find on imports)
USA pickups and electronics
Floyd rose 1000 or better
Gotoh tuners

Other than the poly finish on the guitars, which you can also get in a matte or natural if you’re that opposed to the feel of, there’s not much else a USA model can improve upon aside from a German Floyd rose (which supposedly uses the same exact manufacturing methods and metals except it’s made in Germany vs South Korea.)
They all have the same logo, same headstock, same woods, same pickups, etc. In many ways, the pro mod plus charvels have better specs than the USA models and cost 500 dollars less.

Ok but a standard isn’t going to have a 500 dollar set of custombuckers in it. There’s a white standard near me on marketplace he’s asking 1600 for that has JB/59’s and also comes with the original pickups.
>>
>>128268292
The cool thing about this one is I could have my luthier swap the original pickups in for 50 bucks and then save the JB/59 for when I get my next charvel. But, at 1600 it’s probably going to sell before I can save the extra 400 dollars I need.
>>
>>128268338
>But, at 1600 it’s probably going to sell before I can save the extra 400 dollars I need.
Offer him $1200 and see what happens. I was looking at a V220 recently that was listed for 1600, that I never haggled with the seller on
He eventually ended up dropping the price to 1k and it sold immediately. You never know, the seller might need the money more than he needs to get the most value out of his guitar. It was fucking beautiful, flame maple body w/ natural finish. I've lost sleep over that guitar.
>>
>>128268511
I offered him 1200 plus a new M&P 9 2.0 I was saving for my owb kit but I don’t really need. Will see what he says.
>>
>>128268511
The ad does say firm on price and it’s a fair price so I don’t expect him to budge on it. But then again white is one of the least desirable lp colors and people don’t want aftermarket pups.
>>
>>128268530
>>128268552
It's a more than fair price for sure. The 2.0's are fantastic so maybe he'll bite. With recent glock news I've considered picking one up instead of another g47, maybe he feels the same. I do really want another 47 though. Shit this makes me want to message that guy with the black lp studio near me. The lp bug is real.
>>
>>128268586
Yeah I almost bought a 47 COA but I kept hearing about issues with the COA. This is my first M&P. Problem is it’s really hard to find holsters that fit and the one I have for IWB is too uncomfortable to carry. The optic height sights dig into my pelvis. If I trade it I’ll probably just buy a 47 COA.

If I end up getting this LP I’ll probably put a black pick guard and black lp custom knobs on it.
>>
>>128268637
Honestly that's one reason I came back to glocks. There are parts and accessories available everywhere and I'm a good enough shooter to be fine with a stock one, but not good enough to be so picky about tiny details that would make me want to shave .05s off of my split times and push me towards a different platform. Black guards on white pauls do look rad, though I'm a fan of no guard at all personally. If you DO end up with the white standard, I'll snatch the black studio for the contrast.
>>
>>128268683
Yeah for sure. I love Glocks and shoot them really well. I just got such a killer deal on the M&P (450 otd at fleet farm.) but finding holsters for this model which is kind of a 2.5 and has extended slide stops and safety lever is annoying. So if j can get rid of it for what I paid and get back into a Glock I think it’ll be better.

I don’t think I have ever encountered that shape in an actual song though. Typically they move the note from the high e string to the low e string for that chord. It sucks that all these chord books and things teach you chords that are theoretically correct but not the ones that actually get used.

Yeah the store manager of that guitar center is sending out it multiple emails to the head guys because this dude not only ordered the wrong guitar but then canceled the order without asking me told me it was my fault cause I rushed him and asked and then canceled the order instead of asking if I wanted to keep it as store credit. Then he transferred me to a store when I asked for a supervisor. I’m hoping they pull some kind of miracle deal and get me into an LP standard for all the BS I’ve had to deal with. It wasn’t even close to the same guitar I wanted either. It had a trem on it and was a different color.

>>
>>128269750
The problem is they work on commission and don’t seem to understand that some people don’t immediately pull the trigger on gear. So they get butthurt about it and lose the eventual sale by being unresponsive or having a bad attitude. A 2 minute phone call might “waste” their time today but it could end up being a 5000 dollar sale a month or two later and a customer for life. Guitar center lost me as a customer with all their recent bullshit. Sweetwater at least posts actual photos and weights of the specific guitar you’re buying and makes a blind internet order much less risky. With GC it’s a complete gamble on what the finish / weight will be.

Been isolating intermittent signals, trying to detect any pattern. Will cross reference it with random static. Been time stretching the resulting recordings and analyzing the digital artifacts for encoded synchronicities. No results so far. Tinnitus seems to have disappeared over the last couple weeks. Could be placebo or other unconnected variables.... Skin also isn't breaking out in hives. I think they modulated the phase on the microwave beam nodes. But it's hard to be sure. Randy mostly used hard tails as well. Same with zakk. You can do a lot of cool stuff with a hard tail if you explore alternative techniques. Bending the neck is a good one but also pre bends. If you do it right you can make it sound nearly identical.
>>
>>128270541
>>128270663
ive come to find that trems are mostly crutches
basically the only thing a trem can do that you cant do on a hardtail is meme shit like squealies/divebombs, and reverse bends (where you bend up on the fretboard and then use the trem to bend back to regular pitch, and then stop bending on the string and then bring the trem back to normal - a vai thing)

>>128270495
Yeah glass half full. I got my tuner from GC since I had left over money from my gift card. Still have about 140 left to spend from that

>>128270710
They’re mostly good for ultra smooth gilmour or Jeff beck style vibrato and evh staccato quick 1-2 step dives where you’re punching in and out real fast. Divebombs etc are probably the only thing you can’t do without one. Even when I have one I rarely use it and when I do it’s mostly for smooth vibrato while I’m soloing.

Go on Aliexpress and buy a replacement strap for like $2-5. Wait a month for shipping. They also sell plastic bits whatever that thing is called...But look for guitar strap pieces or belt pieces. Just match your measurements.

Honestly, it's easier to buy a cheapass replacement from them and sub in the parts to fix your old one. Then you have a backup for future.

Or you could do a bent metal coat-hanger that you spot weld and then cover in liquid vinyl.

What’s the best Les Paul strap? I have the little rubber fender strap lock discs. Just wondering what straps distribute the weight the best and are most comfortable. I’ve got a wide leather one that came with my custom shop epiphone and it’s alright. Maybe one that is more narrow and has padding.

>The rod-and-ring symbol is a symbol that is depicted on Mesopotamian stelas, cylinder seals, and reliefs. It is held by a god or goddess and in most cases is being offered to a king who is standing, often making a sacrifice, or otherwise showing respect. The symbol dates from the Third Dynasty of Ur to the Neo-Assyrian period, and is commonly explained as a coil of measuring string and a yardstick. Other theories are that they are a shepherd's crook and a nose rope,or that the ring is no rope at all. The best known example of the symbol is seen on the Code of Hammurabi stela.

I want to get my first guitar, the problem is that I can't decide if I should go for a HSS or SSS strat. I'm not sure which genre I want to play most yet and experiment with different ones, though I know I want to play surf rock and death/black metal at the very least, so I don't know if I then should get a SSS or HSS. One is apparently better for one of them, while the other better for the other, which would I then be happier with?
>>
>>128271975
there are only 3 electric guitar tones in all of music: neck pickup with tone rolled completely off, position 4 on a strat, and a bridge humbucker with some breakup. anything else is gay and a waste of time, money, and sonic space
